- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 331 reviewsOh, Iroha…. Where do I begin? We were greeted by the friendliest and kindest front desk staff, both of the ladies were extremely welcoming and helpful. They asked about our dinner plans and book us a table at a wonderful place. As this was the first place in Japan with Onsen that we stayed at we were explained how to prepare and what are the rules. We went there in the late evening, it was empty and from the outside bath you could enjoy the amazing views of Itsikushima Shrine, just magical! Also we were given a free upgrade to queen suite which we did not expect at all and it was incredible. I could not recommend enough this place and staying at Miyajima Island over night in general. You can’t fully experience the unique charm and beauty of this place by coming just for few hours. Come for a night or two and stay at Iroha, I can guarantee it will be a highlight of your Japan trip! Thank you for having us!Guest review byMałgorzataPoland
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 1,190 reviewsEverything was simply excellent and absolutely perfect. We felt luxuriously pampered in this beautiful ryokan. Its position is great, just minutes from the Itsukushima shrine and the great torii. It is perched on a hill, so rooms have the most perfect view on the torii and the sea. However, this is not an issue with luggage as there is an on-call free shuttle service from/to the port, that even picks you up on arrival, or delivers your luggage when leaving. Kaiseki dinner and japanese-style breakfast were highlights of our stay and absolutely fairly priced considering the half-board rate of the room. We also enjoyed the private onsen for a thirty minute slot that we could choose at check-in. Our room was very spacious - we guessed it could host 3 more people, with beautiful tatami and complete with yukatas to wear and a nice welcome tea served to us upon arrival. Amazing and unforgettable stay!Guest review byGiuliaItaly
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 1,606 reviewsGreat location, a pleasant 7 minutes walk from Shrine and ropeway. The last 1 minute is uphill but not onerous at all. Staff were very welcoming and attentive. They also spoke English. Amazing indoor and outdoor onsen which we made full use of. Big comfortable room with kettle and TV (YouTube app available). Enjoyed the Japanese meal and breakfast (food plentiful, make sure you arrive extremely hungry). Their slogan is “Your home in Miyajima” and it’s so true. So comfortable and they provide everything including yukatas. You could literally just turn up with a change of underwear and everything else is pretty much available (toothbrush, hairbrush, toner & moisturiser in the onsen bathroom).Guest review byShuk WanHong Kong
- From US$400.14 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.2Good - What previous guests thought, 954 reviewsThe hotel was expensive but offers a great experiment and the luxury to enjoy Miyajima on the evening, without the crow and enjoy the sunset and sunrise on the island. To room was huge and very clean, the bed very confortable. The hotel have a whole floor dedicated to well-being, with a salon, onsen, exterior pool, rock bath, karaoke room... That you can access anytime on the opening hour. They have also kimono at disposition at the entry, a little shop on the 1st floor.Guest review byBéatriceFrance
- From US$1,492.03 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.0Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,334 reviewsAmazing value for money. This hotel provides service above and beyond; with even small details like little cakes in your room and toothbrush provided. Don't believe the reviews saying English is not spoken. Just think of booking for the restaurant a few hours in advance with reception and if you need something a little shop sells drinks, beer and snacks. We had the Japanese dinner both nights and it was delicious (lots of food though). Highly recommend.Guest review byAnaisChile

We also really enjoyed the dinner and breakfast. Overall the only negative was that we only stayed one night, would love to come back and stay at least two nights in the future. ❤️Guest review byMaggySpain

Miyajima was great for walking around and doing the ropeway to the top. A lot of little eateries and street food- good if you like seafood. Scenic with the giant Tori gate and shrines, woods, deer walking around. Miyajima was one of my favorite spots on our trip to Japan.Guest review byMarciaUnited States - 10.0
It does get busy during the day when lots of tourists come...
It does get busy during the day when lots of tourists come over by ferry for the day however we hired bikes and managed to stay clear of the crowds for the most part. The Island becomes very quite in the evening which is perfect, I would advise that you book a restaurant as lots of the island closes around 5-6pm so anything that is open later gets booked up. We were very lucky to just get the last free table on two occasions. Also the deer wandering around especially in the dusk and evening before al the ferries drop off are enchanting, however they are not like the deer in Nara park and there are lots of signs that remind people not to feed or bother the deer, not everyone follows these rules which is disappointing.Guest review byDonnaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
It was my second trip to Miyajima island.
It was my second trip to Miyajima island. The first time I only travelled their with my wife and we did not stay in any accommodation. I left back on the ferry same day feeling that I had to eventually return. I was able to do that and I loved every moment. It's an island I would consider going back too again and staying over again. The island offers so much. For those that want heritage and history, tick. For those that want a close encounter with a deers, tick. For those who love calm beaches or mountains, tick. For those that want experiences with friendly locals, tick. Those wanting to do shopping, especially souveniours, tick. For those who want physical activity, the walking trails up the mountain are a definite tick. I could go on, but, for so many reasons I love and would highly recommend travel to Miyajima.Guest review byAdamAustralia
