- From US$222.73 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 89 reviewsThis renovated hotel was a nice surprise, the rooms are big, with a balcony and stunning views. Very clean, excellent bedding, nice onsen baths and sauna with great views and amenities, and unlike onsen baths i have seen in some other places, these baths are recent and don’t have an outdated feel. There are vending machines selling ice cream for after the baths. Also super friendly staff. Good breakfast buffet with Western and Japanese choices and some fresh fruits (pineapple, orange). We didn’t use the pool but it looked lovely and clean. We will definitely stay here again when we return to the area. It is conveniently located for day trips to Arita, Hirado, Unzen, Nagasaki if you want to explore the area and stay in one accommodation. The only reason we didn’t stay longer is because it was booked out.Guest review bySarahJapan
- From US$256.85 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,234 reviewsWhat a perfect little slice of outdoor heaven in Nagasaki! From the moment we arrived, staff was nothing but over-the-top helpful. They bent over backward for the entirety of our stay to make sure our family was comfortable and felt taken care of - from hand-delivering towels, calling us transit, even packaging up a special breakfast treat for our daughter to-go. The property was very well-maintained, with the bikes and play area being huge draws for our young family. The Arkland Spa was a great place to play in the water (the water temperature was excellent, even during winter) and we truly loved the Island Lumina experience. We enjoyed western breakfast at The Terrace very much and would recommend it over the Japanese option for both breakfast and dinner.Guest review byTaylorUnited States
- From US$91.23 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 2,533 reviewsLoved everything about it! The location is perfect, right in the middle of everything , with entrance from a big roofed shopping street. Spacious room. Clean. Comfortable bed, bathroom with tub. Would absolutely stay there again!! It's a short walking distance to several temples and shrines, to the Oura church and Glover garden, and not to forget the river with beautiful bridges, kois, birds and turtles, it is the perfect place for a morning stroll, taking the steps down to the water and walk along the river. The tramway has a stop right outside and it takes you everywhere worth going.Guest review byCathrineNorway
- From US$96.32 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 6.5Pleasant - What previous guests thought, 332 reviewsThe style of this hotel. The way the staff remembers your requests and cares for you. The scent of freshly cut lilies in the lobby. Beautiful spacious room bearing the atmosphere of the golden times it was built in, breathtaking views from the window, which you can open and breathe. And yes, a lifetime amount of fresh Nagasaki biscuits I consumed at a buffet-style dinner. And a big steamy traditional bath at the 3rd floor. And the cozy shuttle-bus to the station down the hill. Highly recommend this hotel.Guest review byElenaJapan
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 7.8Good - What previous guests thought, 363 reviewsPrice quality, amazing onsen experience with tons of food in the morning and evening. The bath is very nice and is large! For the price this might be one of the better stays in Nagasaki. But only if you have a car rental. If the dinner is to expensive, only take the breakfast. It is a wide variaty of food. The pictures shown on the page are for the dinner.Guest review byDiederickNetherlands

Enjoyed the countryside scenery and driving without toll ways made it more interesting but longer. Get use to paid parking everywhere which is not expensive and ensure you have data roaming for gps. Driving is a breeze, 40klm speed limit max 80klm on expressway. Locals are courteous drivers and stickers for road rules. Google translate for help at petrol stations and elsewhere is ideal.Guest review byDavyAustralia - 10.0

Really great seaside town with a large American influence due to the military base in town. The food was great and the night scene lovely as well, though I wish I had more time to visit the Bio Park - will plan to go next time! Haus Ten Bosch was a really unique experience and I'm glad I went!Guest review byAnnaUnited States - 10.0

There is a lot of culture and history to explore in Tsushima. I would definitely recommend hiring a car, so make sure you have your International Driving License before your trip! The public transport isn’t very easy to navigate and you would be able to experience so much more with a car.Guest review byHannah MayUnited Kingdom - 10.0

I think the most outstanding quality of this hotel was the service of the staff. They arranged for us to have a driver for an entire day to discover the island and its history. The driver was a local man who was very familiar with the interesting history of the island and answered all of our many questions. This is not to detract from an absolutely spectacular room with a window wall view of the ocean and the small islands in the distance. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel and these meals were excellent.Guest review byJamesUnited States - 10.0

Sasebo is a good staging point for Catholic pilgrimage trips. We went to Hirado, Ikitsuki, and Kuroshima from here. The ferry options to the Goto Archipelago are limited here; Would try to go from Nagasaki if given the chance again. Sasebo is very westernized and their specialty dishes are steak and hamburgers. There are shopping arcades you can go and visit.Guest review byAndy PaulSingapore - 10.0
A great place to explore Japanese island life!
A great place to explore Japanese island life! Not only is the nature beautiful, but the people are very kind and helpful. To get the most out of a trip to Goto, I recommend traveling with only a few specific places to visit in mind and filling in the gaps with some natural exploration. The places I wanted to see were great, but it was the little surprising spots and locations along the way that became the most memorable.Guest review byMatthewJapan - 10.0
Nagasaki has a very interesting history.
Nagasaki has a very interesting history. It was the area in Japan that was the first to settle foreigners especially religious missionaries. Many churches and businesses were started there. I have lived in Tokyo for over 25 years, but seeing places outside of there such as Sapporo and Nagasaki among others gives a much wider view and impression of the country. Nagasaki is a must visit for anyone coming to experience Japan. It's really cool riding the many streetcars (trams) that run all over the city. There are many historical sites to visit which include ancient temples and the Atomic Bomb Museum. A can't miss museum is the site where the 26 martyrs were executed. They exhibit an actual letter written by St. Francis Xavier among others.Guest review byStephenJapan - 10.0

Sasebo is a hidden gem, perfect for those who enjoy a quieter lifestyle and want to avoid the crowds of more tourist-heavy destinations in Japan. With its laid-back vibe and scenic spots like Huis Ten Bosch, the Sea Aquarium, and the stunning Kujukushima (99 Islands), it offers a peaceful retreat without sacrificing things to see and do. The city also boasts delicious food, including Michelin-starred Champon at the train station and famous local burgers. Sasebo, as the base of the US Army, offers a unique mix of cultural and culinary experiences, making it a great choice for a slower-paced, yet rewarding, getaway. That said, I wish there were more quality hotels in Sasebo, as the available apartment and Airbnb options are quite limited and overpriced.Guest review bymaykincAustralia
