A unique hotel with excellent service and ammenities. The foyer & shared spaces were charming and we appreciated the warm, friendly welcome from the hotel staff who provided a welcome drink and offered to make us dinner reservations as we checked in. We were escorted to our room, which was extremely spacious, clean and comfortable. We had a lovely view. We were so impressed with the complimentary cookies which had absolutely beautiful Arita porcelain designs. The location was good for visiting all the sights in Saga that we wanted to see and the parking onsite for guests was handy.

An Unexpected Gem in Saga: My Stay at HOTEL fah I discovered this hidden gem in Saga City during a business trip that brought me from Incheon. While the city offers numerous accommodation options, I specifically needed a spacious room for my extended stay. HOTEL fah surprised me in the most delightful ways. The hotel's proximity to the station is its first major advantage, though initially, I had some trouble locating it due to Google Maps' somewhat unclear directions. The convenience of having a well-stocked supermarket at the station proved invaluable during my stay. The room itself exceeded my expectations. Being a newly opened establishment, everything was pristine and new. I particularly appreciated their choice of MUJI products throughout the room, which added a touch of minimalist elegance. The in-room microwave was a practical addition that I used frequently. The attention to cleanliness was impressive – the housekeeping team maintained impeccable standards throughout my stay. What makes this property unique is the innovative combination of a barbershop and café on the ground floor, creating a lively atmosphere from morning till night. This vibrant setup contributed to the hotel's welcoming ambiance. When I needed to extend my stay, the staff was remarkably accommodating and helpful in arranging the additional night. The peaceful environment and comfortable setting made it an ideal place for productivity – I managed to complete a significant amount of work during my stay. The blend of convenience, comfort, and professional service makes HOTEL fah a standout choice in Saga City. Special thanks to HOTEL fah for providing such a comfortable home away from home. This establishment truly understands the needs of both business and leisure travelers

Everything. The cute and comfy yukata. The traditional Japanese style room had a nice retro vibe, with a traditional low table and sliding doors separating the main room from the small one with the river view. The public bath was spacious and clean. The lounge had a great variety of drinks and snacks.

We were very happy with this hotel. It had everything we needed, excellent location, quiet, spotless - the place is brand new basically. The hotel staff were also extremely professional and attentive, they helped us with info in English, they helped us get seats at a local izakaya of our choice..We also really liked the tiny hot bath in front of the hotel where we could relax (always with some locals which was cool), soak our feet, and have a beer from the vending machine ;)

This was a wonderful stay and the Japanese-styled room was comfortable for three of us. We loved the traditional welcome of helpful friendliness informing us that we should catch the shuttle bus to the mountain onsen in time to make it down for dinner. Lovely! I am always concerned about inconveniencing the chef with my gluten-free food needs. It took some pre-communication and effort, but I really wanted my friends to experience the traditional kaiseki experience which is difficult (not possible) to provide as gluten-free in many ryokan. The staff and chef were able to provide kaiseki to my friends and for me a non-traditional meal which was exceptionally wonderful! I am forever thankful for their care and effort in making the meals and onsen a wonderful experience. There are several onsen choices. In the morning, my friends went to the larger one which they said felt like being in a forest, and I went to the smaller lower-level one with pond, Koi and waterfall. The evening mountain onsen was truly a treat and I only wish I knew in advance to allow more time, but we were able to do a nice soak before dinner. This was one of the best ryokan experiences I have had and I would certainly return. My Japanese friends agreed. We didn't see much of the town, but we would go back for that as well since it looked like an interesting stroll. Many other nearby attractions from important shrines, tea fields, and lovely pottery kiln town of Hasami to the Arita porcelain towns and museums as well. Top experience!

I was hesitant to book this resort initially as there was only 1 recent review when I booked, and the older reviews of the original hotel were not that good. However, I decided to take a chance and I'm so glad I did!!! The resort is newly renovated and all the furnishings and decor are all very clean and new. The resort location was ideal as I wanted to be located near Mifuneyama Rakuen so I could go see the Autumn colours at night (only 6 min drive away). The facilities on the resort were fantastic.... the spa pool required swimsuits which the resort thoughtfully prepared for each guest, all packed in individual tote bags. The hot spring pool was a a bit small, but the resort was not packed when we stayed, so there were no other people around when we used the spa pool or hot spring. But what impressed me the most has to be the amazing service we received. Most of the staff did not speak English or could only speak minimal English, but they always tried their best to understand our needs, and made us feel so comfortable. The staff's dedication and service quality are top-notch. The food was so amazing as well (The sukiyaki dinner and Japanese breakfast included in the stay were so good!)

Just wow. The breakfast was fantatsic,. The dinner was AMAZING,and so tasty. Pro tip: make sure to mention if you're allergic to something before you arrive, we forgot to mention that one of us was lactose intolerant and the desert had dairy in it, so the kitchen made my husband something different for desert, which was very nice of them, especially since that meant I had two deserts. It was also our honeymoon so we were gifted some champagne by the hotel staff. The room is fantastic, and ours had a private onsen. The bed and the bathroom were lovely, and the hotel was too. We wandered around at night, and discovered a table tennis table where you play with flipflops instead of bats, as per local custom. The bar was nice too, and the bartender let me choose the music to play. This ryokan's theme is music, and you can see how much the owners love music as it is literally everywhere.

The staff could not have been more helpful. I had a medical issue and a lady at reception arranged help for me. The hotel is only about an 8 minute walk from Imari Station where the Fukuoka Showa Bus also arrives and departs. There is a lovely Izakaya (pub) right next to the hotel car park and an Aeon supermarket nearby. The best thing is their buffet breakfast. A large choice of freshly prepared food with menu specials that change daily. There is a coffee and soft drink bar in the lobby. You can catch a train on the Matsuura Railway line from Imari to Arita but there is only one per hour. It is only a 15 minute bus ride to the pottery village of Okawachiyama but use the timetable outside Imari Station to plan your trip. Only ¥200 each way.

Location on the fringe of Karatsu is ideal, with easy parking. Our room in East Wing faced the beach and had a superb view on the bay. The outdoor swimming pool is beautiful, large enough for a little swim, with views right on the seaside and the celebrated local pine grove. You can easily go from beach to swimming pool. We were well received and kindly upgraded to a huge, luxurious room; every comfort you can think of was there. The circulation from bedroom to onsen to swimming pool can be complex, but we were given an English language map that greatly helped. This was our second stay in Karatsu, and we'd love to come back and stay in Karatsu Seaside Hotel another time !

The kaiseki dinner is very nice. Breakfast spread was good and varied. The onsen facilities in ryokan is very good, especially the open air bath area. The sand bath option is unusual, and the foot bath avail is nice too. Even as the staff mostly cannot speak english well, they were very helpful and assisted to their best efforts. The shop in lobby level is interesting with things to purchase.

The highlight is of course the Keiseki dinner on first night and Saga Beef shabu shabu on second night. I'd strongly recommend taking the time to ensure that the accommodation you're booking is close enough to any specific areas you wish to visit. Saga itself, is simply a township without too many attractions other than a museum, a castle and a couple of short, pretty walks. If you want to see something further afield, such as Arita or Imari (located in the Saga region), be prepared for quite a bit of travel. Even places to stay near these areas are several kilometers away.

Ureshino is famous for the green tea and the onsen. The Ureshino Tea Exchange musuem is 100% worth a visit and don't forget to drink a tea in the cafe! It is amazing quality and very cheap (300 yen for 1 tea) Then I would also recommend Fuji restaurant, they make great Okonomiyake, Yakisoba and many more dishes! Staff is amazing! If you have a car drive up to the mountain to visit the tea fields, 100 % worth it!

I did an overnight trip to Takeo, and it was great - the Takeo shrine and Public library are right next to each other, and both are worth the visit. I also went to an onsen the following morning and that was a great experience. The town seems very easily walkable, and is a great stop between Fukuoka and Nagasaki.

One of the most comfortable places we have stayed in, in a very long time. Spotlessly clean. Fresh flowers, snacks on arrival. Clean, beyond comparison. This is not a place to stay if you want city life. It is a super quiet village. The observatory behind the house is one of the best cherry blossom destinations we have been to. We spent 2 hours there and we were the only people on the mountain. Spectacular.

We loved being able to visit some of the kilns and see how the porcelain is made. As well as showrooms, some makers had museums showing older pieces of their work. The Kyushu Ceramic Museum had fabulous pieces on display and good explanations on the processes involved. The locals were very friendly and helpful and pleased to have visitors interested in their porcelain.

We walked to the old part of Saga City and discovered the historic Nagasaki Highway or Sugar Road filled with special shops that families have run for generations, the cultural museum and tours of historic homes! There are also new businesses created by younger entrepreneurs so there’s a youthful feeling as well.

The reception lady is super nice, she welcomed us with a warm smile, answered all questions and offered information on the room and facilities, then walked us to the room. A very relaxing stay with in-room onsen, the public bath is good too. Breakfast is adequate, though more types of drinks could be offered in addition to coffee and green tea.

We were there just to see the sakura. It is worth a trip to Japan just to see the night viewing of sakura at Mifuneyama Rakuen. It was magic. We also went to Takeo Shrine. The huge bamboo and the 3,000 year-old camphor tree are also amazing. One warning - at both places, be prepared to walk uphill, a lot!

1 - Must go to the Yutoku Onsen.

1 - Must go to the Yutoku Onsen. Beautiful outdoor pools (busy around 7pm, lots of locals with kids), very tasty restaurant - great bargain ¥1000 for the onsen AND dinner included. Massage, etc facilities on site. 2 - Town is cute with lots of ceramics everywhere for great instagram moments. 3 - MUST go up to the Okawachiyama pottery village - take the back roads, as they are beautiful. 15 minute or less drive, 1 hour bike ride or so.

Arita is nice place to learn about ceramic, and the environment is nice with many mountains and trees. Also this area has many shrines and art museums, and there is a lot history about porcelain in Japan.
