Absolutely amazing hotel a short distance from the train station (but not loud at all). Beautiful views, spacious rooms, and indoor and outdoor onsens! The onsens were open for most of the day and shut at midnight which is great for people who get back late from day’s activities like us - even started to snow one night while outside in the onsen which was magic! There were also free soba noodles provided at night and tea and coffee in the day, friendly service, and very comfy beds. I already want to stay again!

We loved our experience at this hotel. As first timers to Japan it was an awesome introduction. The staff where fabulous and helpful. We found communicating pretty easy, we loved the Japanese buffet style breakfasts and dinners, and the Japanese food in general, they where also happy to cater for the vegetarian in our group. We had two rooms, one western style and one Japanese style room which our 20 year daughter used, she had no trouble sleeping on the futon mats. If you are a family with young children the Japanese style rooms are great. Being so close to the Takamahara ski lift was such a bonus, it was literally across the road. They have great ski dry rooms for the end of the day. I also highly recommend using the luggage courier system to transport ski gear to the hotel, you just need to allow for 48 hours for your gear to reach its destination. We couriered 2 ski bags and a large bag directly to Narita airport at the end of our stay while we spent two days in Tokyo, it was cheap and super efficient. I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel has a strategic location: in the middle of Ichinose central ski area, easy to get to all slopes on the mountain, to ski out - just cross the road, ski to the right around the ski shop building, and down to the lift/ ticket booth. There is a lift taking you back across the road to the lifts on the other side of the mountain and to the path you can take to ski all the way down to the door of the hotel. And the bus stop is right next to the hotel. The onsen was wonderful, exactly what you need after a day of skiing. The service was exceptional: I eat raw food and the chef insisted on understanding what this is all about, and made breakfasts and dinners for me separately, from fresh fruits and vegetables! This never happened to me in any other hotel anywhere in the world!

Excellent location, friendly staff and fantastic breakfast. Onsen facilities were lovely, and the Japanese-style room was very clean and comfy. Staff went above and beyond for our needs, transporting us to and from Ichinose, up to Hoppo Onsen, etc., and are experts on anything you want to do in the area; for example, they helped to plan our trip to the Snow Monkeys one afternoon. They bring you dinner from Ichinose's food trucks if you order it, and there is a buffet dinner available. Snowboard options were a little light but they had a table with screwdrivers for you to adjust your own gear.

    For a tourist location, it was hard to find restaurants open, or willing to seat us (a party of five). But in general the food was good and the location was great for hot springs and access to the snow monkey park.

    The Onsen hot springs experience was unique and for anyone wanting to see how the Japanese hold this aspect of their beliefs in such high regard this area is a perfect example and for a couple of days you can immerse yourself in a different cultural and culinary experience that will be the highlight of your holiday and the truest insight of this unique way of life.

    Great little town as a base for seeing the amazing snow...

    Great little town as a base for seeing the amazing snow monkeys. The walk to the monkeys was very pleasant (but it is advisable to wear wellingtons as it is very mucky). There are many small Ryokans in the town - sadly all of varying standards. Our recommended one was Tsuyuru Ryokan. Great little place run by the amazing Yoko.
