- From US$415.46 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 234 reviewsWe loved everything. One of the best hotels we've stayed in Japan so far. Reasonable price & excellent service. Loved that all the rooms have hot spring water flowing. On the territory of the hotel they have a lot of activities: free drink bar in the lounge, mini-live concert in the evening, hand and foot hot spring baths, children play room with games, massage, many types on hot spring baths, souvenir shop and even hand-made classes. We didn't have enough time to explore everything. The food is outstanding and they have a lot of options for vegans/ vegetarians, and all the meals that contain allergens are marked. Also, we appreciate the shuttle bus to the hotel, they came to pick up only 2 of us, although we have arrived late. The room was very quiet, spacious and we had a good sleep, didn't want to leave. Will make sure to come again. You can feel that staff in this hotel truly love their job and care about customers.Guest review byKseniiaJapan
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 249 reviewsGreat experience! Very cozy and authentic. Very large room - more than enough space for a family of three. Impeccable staff and facilities! Traditional kaiseki dinner is a must and is delicious. Dinner and breakfast are served in the room. Slept great on the futon! Outdoor onsen with a view of the city is beautiful. Funicular - functional, fun and cute attraction. Transfer to the station upon check-out. Thank you very much for everything! We will definitely come back in old age :) We will age gracefully like this ryokan! The ryokan does not need advertising for Russian-speaking travelers :)Guest review byAleksandr EniseevRussia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 525 reviewsThe hotel is very well located and has a very efficient shuttle service from the Kawazu station: we were able to use it to drop our luggages in our room and go back to explore the Kawazu cherry blossom festival! The room is beautiful sea view. Public bath are very pleasant. All the hotel is adapted to children (welcome kits, high chairs, playing area, even the public baths are well equiped for them!). The staff is really nice and helpful. Thank you for this nice stay :)Guest review byMorganeFrance
- From US$92.90 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.2Good - What previous guests thought, 181 reviewsA well located hotel with a great view of the bay from every room. Attention to detail was nice - every guests is lent a kimono to wear for dinner during their stay. The dinner buffet is very good with a wide selection of food, including simple sushi. (Every nights' buffet is the same but that's ok.) The breakfast buffet was also good.Guest review byCraigSouth Africa

Shizuoka is a hidden gem.
Shizuoka is a hidden gem. You can stay here and get to many sightseeing destinations by rail (day trips) and come back to the relaxation of more laidback location. Locals are very pleasant and friendly, not so jaded by the over tourism of Kyoto and Osaka. We speak very limited Japanese, but were welcomed and managed in small local restaurants and Izakayas.Guest review byMarkAustralia - 8.0
Quiet seaside town with no tourists apart from us.
Quiet seaside town with no tourists apart from us. Easy to get to from Osaka. Stayed in a traditional ryokan (tattoo friendly). Spent the day walking along the harbour to the ropeway up to Atami castle which had several different art displays and museums including an adults only one and a great view of the coast. Away from the beach things were pretty steep so a car might have been a sensible optionGuest review byBrigidAustralia - 8.0
Hamamatsu is a small industrial city located about halfway...
Hamamatsu is a small industrial city located about halfway between Kyoto and Tokyo. It has a number of industrial tourism sites - Suzuki Plaza, esp., and music-related sites - Yamaha Innovation Road and the Musical Instrument Museum. There are a number of Jazz- and Classical-music festivals in the fall, and that is a good time to visit. Lake Hamana is beautiful, and there are a number of interesting temples, shrines, and historical sites like the small but beautiful Hamamatsu Castle. Mostly ignored by Western tourists, but easy to get around, it's charm is in one's ability to visit Japan as it is for those who live there.Guest review byJerome - 10.0
Everything about Gotemba is excellent and magical.
Everything about Gotemba is excellent and magical. Gotemba is one of the most significant epicenters for adventure and sightseeing in all of Japan. It is of course an exceptional gateway to hiking and adventuring on Mount Fuji using the Gotemba, Subashiri and Fujinomiya 5th Station traiheads. Hakone-Yumoto onsens/spas and Lake Ashi are also right in the area. Free shuttle buses offer a 20 minute ride straight to the Famous Gotemba Outlets if shopping for 15 hours is what you are in the mood for. Don't forget Odawara Castle just down the way or Fuji-Q and the Fuji Speedway just up the way, to name a few. Gotemba ROCKS! Mount Fuji and the Osunabashiri descending trail are really the #1 world class attraction among many. Furthermore, all the special local people who support all the vast Gotemba opportunities are the best and truly loved.Guest review byBrettUnited States - 8.0
I travelled from Tokyo to Shin-Fuji via Kodama Shinkansen.
I travelled from Tokyo to Shin-Fuji via Kodama Shinkansen. The fare is ¥5900 one way and travel time is nearly an hour. I stayed at Toyoko Inn which is 150 meters from the Shin Fuji station. There are lots of car rentals in the area but I was not able to get one as they only accept advance booking from their website. It took me 2 hours getting to and from the foot of Mt. Fuji, by bus and a 15 minute walk in the village to reach my destinations. Roads are quite narrow but they are common in Japan. Like most countryside places in Japan, Fuji is relatively clean, rich in nature, and lots of places to explore. My advice if you want to visit Fuji: 1. Travel by Shinkansen going to and from Fuji. 2. Rent a car so you can visit most of the attractions in and around Mt. Fuji. 3. Spend at leat 3-4 days in the area. 4. Bring cash with you always as most establishments are cash based. 5. Download Papago app on your phone so you can translate Japanese images, signs, etc if you're having difficulty understanding the language. That's it and enjoy your trip to Mt. Fuji.Guest review byMauro Jr - 8.0
If you love beach Shimoda is best for you.
If you love beach Shimoda is best for you. You can enjoy the white sand and wide beach line. Sunshine and twilight views from the seashore ate so excellent The sound of waves, the feel of sand, and the sun create a soothing environment, making it a perfect spot for relaxation and stress relief. Restaurant nearby are very few and most of those restaurants closes early and operates only weekends and holidays so you have plan were to eat your meals beforehand.Guest review bymichelynJapan - 10.0

Definitely visit the zoo if you have the opportunity. It’s very interactive with lots of cute animals. The in Granpal Park illumination was also really good! 7/11 and Family Mart have amazing egg sandwiches. The kadowaki tsuribashi suspension bridge and trails are worth the visit as well.Guest review byHeatherUnited States - 8.0

It is a nice city with ocean and good izakaya restaurant culture and a few good museums which we really enjoyed. It was quiet when we visited with very few tourists. City itself has a few good points of interest worth exploring and its located close to other cities which would make for good day trips.Guest review byKenDeNegriAustralia - 10.0
Mishima is a diamond 💎.
Mishima is a diamond 💎. It was one of the most beautiful places I visited in Japan. The gardens, clear water streams, beautiful people, wonderful parks with animal petting zoo make this area a magnificent visit. Being on the doorstep of Mt Fuji it’s easy to catch public transport up the mountain. If you are looking for a top notch Japanese kitchen knife to take home, visit 3 waves. They have a great range of knives, higher quality than specialist stores in Tokyo or Kyoto with prices much lower than everywhere else I looked in Japan. The owner is learning English and will help you out. She is second generation. He father left the stock to her.Guest review byJimAustralia - 10.0

Izu is a wonderful varied destination with great food ,beaches and outdoor things to do ,It is a good place to go when you need a break from thee heat and crowds of summer in Japan.I very much recommend visiting Terrace Orange in Toi..It's a unique building built as both a tsunami refuge and community center with a lovely cafe and a restaurant with some of the freshest and nicest food on our trip .The architecture is fabulous and there is even a footbath acing the sea.Guest review byMichelleNew Zealand
