Location was prefect for visiting the Kurobe Alpine Route. Dinner and breakfasts are included which are traditional Japanese. We were expecting breakfast to be a buffet style as per the photos and didn't enjoy the set Japanese menu first morning. Felt wasteful as we didn't enjoy it at all. If given the option for Western breakfast at check in would have selected for both mornings, second day was lovely. Dinners were very nice, used google translate to decipher menu, only to have an idea what we were enjoying. There is also a lounge with complimentary hot and cold drinks available all day and into the evening.

Surrounded by beautiful mountains, Midagahara Hotel is located in a national park 1930metres above sea level.

Everything! The room was clean, and the staff were very warm and welcoming. Location is perfect for us as the midagahara wetland was just beside the hotel. It's also quieter compared to the famous Tateyama Hotel. If you prefer a quiet, peaceful place, Midagahara is a good choice. Day light was long in spring, so we could do a morning trail walk at 5 am. I am very grateful to the chef for my vegetarian meal request. The vegetarian kaiseki (see photo I shared) was superb.

Beautiful little house, very spacious for two people and good value. Our host Mizuho was extremely helpful with information, leaving us little surprise snacks and even driving us to Toyama station when we checked out. The house is 15-20 minutes way from the main cbd/Toyama Station, so you need to get a local bus if you don’t have a car. But there are helpful instructions at the property, and we found it a bit of an adventure to catch the bus. Also you get lovely views of the mountains when walking in the neighbourhood, which you don’t get in the cbd. Also recommend the Yakatori restaurant near the house. Cosy vibe and delicious food.

Excellent location. Next to Dentetsu Toyama Station and a short walk to JR station. Fresh towels and clean room everyday. It's not noisy inside the room. Lot's of choices in the breakfast buffet and they serve toyama local dishes such as trout sushi and firefly squid. If you are in a hurry, line up early due to long line before the breakfast time starts. Free massage chair.
