- Scored out of 10, guest rating 7.0Good - What previous guests thought, 779 reviewsEverything was amazing! To start, the staff were friendly, professional, and helpful. The room was lovely and cosy with a beautiful river view as promised (during snow season this was especially impressive). It was nice to walk around the facilities comfortably in the provided yukata (Japanese loungewear). The included dinner and breakfast were delicious, nutritious, and generous (both were all-you-can-eat buffet style). Booking for the private onsen and other activities was easy from the front desk. The private onsen was incredible and just a short walk from the hotel. It's set in individual huts where two of the walls can be fully opened to the outside, in case you want the outdoor onsen experience. Late night table tennis back at the hotel was fun! The public onsen (within the hotel building) also had a beautiful view. Don't worry about setting up your futon bedding - the staff will have that ready for you when you come back from dinner :) It's worth arriving early (at check-in time) and taking advantage of all that this hotel has to offer.Guest review byChristineAustralia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 854 reviewsStrategically located and walking distance to Toshogu Shrines, temples and restaurants. Bus stop is 2 mins walk from Hotel. Hotel employees are friendly and i feel very welcome and comfortable staying here. Onsen is huge with a large indoor pool and 2 outdoor pools and plenty of wash areas equipped with good quality body wash, hair conditioners, shampoo, hair tonics, face wash, toner and moisturizer. Hiraga-san, the front desk manager is so friendly and provided guidance on areas of attractions we should visit. Also you can get Toshogu main shrine ticket from Hotel but only accept cash.Guest review byWendyMalaysia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,051 reviewsOur stay was exceptional thanks to the hotel team. We came to celebrate the birthday of one of our own, and the staff went out of their way to make it incredible. Special mention: when booking, we asked if it was possible to prepare a birthday cake. The hotel staff went out of their way to deliver a magnificent cake for our meal. Overall, the hotel's facilities are very pleasant, the rooms very clean and the staff very attentive. If we ever come back to Nikkō, we'll definitely stay at this hotel again! We can only recommend the hotel!Guest review byPaulFrance

The meals were included and the dinner was simply fantastic..we ate everything and it was an extensive assortment of delicious treats! It was located within easy walking distance of the bus stop, which was only 40 minutes ride from the Nasushiobara Shinkansen station, so access was easy. We spent the next day doing walks and hikes further up the mountain which was easy to get to. The private onsen was nice, and the staff went out of their way to make our stay great.Guest review byPipAustralia

We also had dinner... Exquisite + Fantastic garden with a nice panorama of the mountains around Nikko + You're just next to the area with all the temples, so the perfect spot for sightseeing Value was very good for the price but I suspect it was because the off seasonGuest review byStefanFrance

We loved our stay at this authentic traditional Japanese hotel, walking in kimono and resting in onsen. The rooms were cozy and spacious. The hotel staff was really friendly and helpful. The location is great, surrounded by nature and a short hike. We went for waterfalls and AMAZING Nikko shrines just in 15-30 min drive. Highly recommend!Guest review byPeterUnited Arab Emirates

Our trip to Nikko was nothing short of magical.
Our trip to Nikko was nothing short of magical. The town is surrounded by some of the most beautiful forests and breathtaking waterfalls I’ve ever seen. Every corner feels like stepping into a postcard—lush, serene, and full of natural wonder. The town itself has such charm, with its cozy streets, warm hospitality, and a peaceful atmosphere that makes it easy to slow down and simply enjoy the moment. We stayed for three nights, which gave us time to explore, but we truly wish we had stayed longer. There’s so much more to see and experience, and the beauty of the area leaves you wanting to return.Guest review byTracyUnited States - 10.0
We liked the room it was quite spacious.
We liked the room it was quite spacious. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel was an easy bus ride from the main station and there were many restaurants nearby. The breakfast offered a lot options both Japanese and Western. The staff were very helpful finding some bus information and lending us umbrellas and adaptors.Guest review bySusanAustralia - 6.0
Nasu is well known and loved by Japanese people.
Nasu is well known and loved by Japanese people. The Emperor has a summer house here as it tends to be cooler in summer. It’s little known by westerners and therefore is not catered to westerners. Parts of Nasu are very beautiful and other parts are set up for families - eg the zoo and the Dairy farm. There are some lovely restaurants and places to visit here but you really need a car to do it.Guest review byDeltaBegaAustralia - 8.0
The best thing about Nasushiobara is the hot springs.
The best thing about Nasushiobara is the hot springs. It has the Shiobara hot spring village, which has a rich spring quality and has been loved by royalty and literary masters. You can enjoy the traditional hot springs surrounded by nature in spite of the easy access from Tokyo on the Tohoku Shinkansen, which is just an hour away from Tokyo. Each hot spring in the city is different in scale and taste, but it is an adult resort where you can spend your luxurious time by soaking in the hot spring to your heart’s content.Guest review byBestUnited Kingdom - 8.0

We walked to the Togoshu Shrine; make sure you're prepared for uphill walks and a lot of stairs. The Main Street leading to the shrine was amazing. A ton of food vendors and restaurants. We took the bus to Kegon Falls. The ride was spectacular through the mountains and the village at the top was a pleasant surprise.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

The Nasu Kaido is a famous and really scenic road that goes from the lowlands of Nasu town all the way up to the Nasu mountains, and it's beautiful to drive up - if you have a car. The road is a two lane highway that (in Summer) is very busy and not intended for bicycle or pedestrian use when you get to the uphill portions of the road, so be sure to use a vehicle or public transportation if you want to go further up it. The public transportation options are present - you can take the Shinkansen to NasuShiobara Station, then take the bus to the Nasu Mountain Ropeway, then take the ropeway to the near top of one of the mountain peaks and hike from there. It's a good venture, though if you try it on the weekend, be sure to check when the last buses operate, or else you might have to take a taxi.Guest review byLeeUnited States - 10.0

Touristy, somewhat charmless town that is nevertheless worth it for the magnificent shrines (Shinto, and the resting places of the first and third shoguns) and temples (Buddhist) and the museum (splurge on the museum! Seriously). Many people go to see these buildings + the red bridge (which is merely fine - short and not really noteworthy), but don't venture to the outskirts of Nikko to take in the other sites (Kanmangafuchi Abyss, Botanical Garden, Tamozawa Imperial Villa and much more impressive Nikko Dainichi Bridge).Guest review byChristopherUnited States - 10.0
