Great hotel near the Yamagata Station, about 5 minutes walk. The room was quite spacious and clean. It was easy to comunicate with the staff as they spoke perfect English. For breakfast we had to choose Western style set or Japanese style. We liked everything about our stay. Highly recommend!

The room was very clean and spacious, and the window was huge with a marvelous view and great curtains that blocked out the light. The room came with a TV, safety box, mini fridge, electric kettle, and coffee maker. The yoga room is spacious and well decorated, giving off a definite Japanese air. The wood deck just outside of it gives an amazing view of the city and the ocean, and was great when doing outdoor morning yoga. The hot springs are also tastefully Japanese, and the women's public hot spring comes with a slightly cooler bath (Silky bath) that helps with your skin and then a deliciously warm hot spring bath. The showers and locker room also include amenities, including shampoo, conditioner, body soap, lotion, facial wash, and more. They also provide towels, hair dryers, and some detox water. I really enjoyed their spa room, everything from their decoration, their music, and even the dimness of the room made for a wonderful immersive experience, I think I even dozed off a bit! The masseur was definitely top class, adjusting her strength to my wishes and changing based on how stiff my muscles were. The blue zone lounge was very luxurious, and had comfortable couches and drinks that you could enjoy from indoors, and also has a balcony with ocean view right outside. I would definitely recommend it to watch the sunset, it was beautiful. The restaurant had a delicious dinner with both Japanese and Western tastes, and a breakfast buffet that caters to many tastes. I personally enjoyed their omelettes and fruit selection. The staff was very kind, always ready to listen and willing to use translation devices to make our communication smoother. Even in the clinic check up, the counselor I was talking to was willing to repeat the same information in different ways until the translator gave an accurate translation. There are some staff members who speak English, but even when they weren't around I had no issues.

I have never had brand loyalty to any chain until I stayed in this Dormy Inn. The breakfast was AMAZING and so very worth the extra as there’s so much variety to sample traditional Japanese breakfast. And the free late night ramen is so yummy too.

Check in and out was really easy and most of the staff had a relatively good command of English. The half board had some unique dishes (e.g. we had a swordfish dish for dinner) and the food was really good. The staff also took the time to tell us what each dish was in English! The room also had a really good view!

I sadly only got to visit around the station area both alone, with a friend and some locals and it was the highlight of my trip. The huge shopping area starting from the station extends for many blocs and has everything you could ever want from arcades to second hand shops to all sorts of restaurants and cafes. The malls next to the station have all your sort of branded shops like Gundam Base and Pokemon Center. The nightlife is pretty nice and the few places we hit while wandering with a friend from Sendai were very tasty and everyone's super friendly!

Morioka is apparently famous for different types of locally produced noodles. I ate at two different restaurants, both were tasty with the usual exemplary Japanese customer service. There are plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from if that is your thing. Morioka is a pleasant spot with mountain views from the central city. I visited in winter there are a few nearby skifields. I imagine it would be gorgeous in spring and autumn.

We parked at Times Parking next to Crown Plaza hotel and the parking lot charged us 3200 yen for over nigh parking. We found not place to clarify why such high as the signage said maximum was 700 yen for over night. I booked a counter table in 长屋酒场, but they offered sitting on tatami with a few small tables... eating for 1-2 hours... just not comfortable. we left early and found not so good experience.

    The hotel location was great.

The hotel location was great. It is directly across the street from the train station. It was very easy to get around by walking or taking the JR rail. We had an amazing view of the street below. There are many convenient stores, restaurants and eating places nearby. Shopping is everywhere. We went to “Round 1” entertainment center for arcade games. They also have bowling, karaoke and a kids zone. There is a free red bus from the station or you can take a 15 minute walk to get there. In the same parking lot we shopped at “Don Côté”, Japan’s biggest discount store.

There is more than meets the eye in this city.

There is more than meets the eye in this city. Online guidebooks/tourist information is limited. Many of the sightseeing spots are spread out, so you need time to go from spot to spot. There are some of places not featured well in guidebooks that are still worth seeing, so plan a little extra time when you go!

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Metropolitan Yamagata!

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Metropolitan Yamagata! The location is absolutely perfect—conveniently connected to the station, making it easy to explore the city and surrounding areas. The hotel itself is modern, clean, and well-maintained, providing a comfortable and relaxing experience. The staff were very welcoming and attentive, always ready to assist with a smile. While their hospitality was excellent, I did find that a bit more fluency in English communication would enhance the experience for international guests. That being said, their warmth and willingness to help more than made up for any language barriers. Overall, I truly enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend Hotel Metropolitan Yamagata to anyone visiting the area. Looking forward to staying here again in the future!

Hon-Hachinohe has far more to offer than we could fit into our three-day visit—we truly wished we had stayed longer. The Korekawa Jomon Archaeological Museum was exceptional, offering a fascinating look at the area's ancient past. The Tanesashi Coast was another highlight, with its beautiful and easy-to-navigate hiking trails. In the center of town, we explored the Hachinohe Portal Museum, known as ‘Hacchi’—a six-floor space that blends cultural center, artist studios, and local exhibits. The staff there were especially welcoming and helpful. We didn’t have time to visit the Art Museum or the History Museum, Maybe next time
