View was amazing. Loved the bath. House was very spacious and luxurious. Service was fantastic. Toiletries were generous and we were extremely grateful for the child specific items. Chicken sukiyaki dinner was delicious and we were very impressed with the selection of drinks in the fridge.

Everything was amazing. From the prompt pick up from Kawaguchiko Station, to express check out we had a wonderful experience. We booked Fukuchi A and Fukuchi B, a specific person helped you with check in, showed you around the facility and to your room. Suggest you check in as early as you can. Once you reach your room, you get a sweet and a roasted green tea. Then you can change into your yukata, visit the tea ceremony house and explore the three lounges (unlimited snack and alcohol, a wine lounge with like 30 different types of local alcohol), the amazing garden, settle into your own dining room in your room for a 9 course dinner then the taiko drums at 2030, bingo right after, piano session with free drink after that. Your own room has its own onsen, but there's also a public one on level 1 and level 10 with amazing view of Mt Fuji. The view from your room is also top notch. We checked in at 1430 but I would suggest to use all the facilities in time to arrive earlier than that, store the luggage and check in later. At least you can start exploring the garden and other facilities beforehand!! Very responsive with messaging. Most staff speak minimal English but have translators. With other reviews asking staff to speak English, I'd like to add I'd rather go to a ryokan which is authentic and staff speak minimal English. After all, it'll mean it mainly caters for Japanese guests (which means it's not a overseas touristy place and a very Japanese experience) and if we're visiting another country, good to learn some Japanese phrases out of respect. My elderly parents had no issues with simple Japanese phrases for communication.

I think this may be my favourite hotel. The hotel & grounds are beautiful, the view is stunning, and the in-room private onsen was so amazing. Plus all the little touches made the experience so memorable - (mostly) refillable complimentary mini bar which had bottled beer, juice, and snacks, the scented volcanic rock and volcanic rock filtered water, the in-room fire that the staff can set up for you, and the filter coffee equipment, pajamas, and loungewear that is available! There is also complimentary free flow tiny canned beer, juice, and milk coffee from the public onsen, outdoor public fireplace that the staff can set up for you in the evenings, and the wi-fi is great. As a group of 7, we were provided the restaurant private room for every meal, with a beautiful view of the grounds. Truly had a magical experience at Fufu.

We had a wonderful night in Yamanashi prefecture. We booked the hotel as it was our anniversary and we were visiting some vineyards in the area. Being from the UK we did not know what to expect and the view from the hotel terrace of Mount Fuji blew us away. The amazing staff, who were just the most friendly of our 3 week trip, showed us to our room and we had been upgraded to a suite. It was by far the biggest hotel room we have ever stayed in and absolutely huge for a Japanese hotel. The best part was that we got a perfect view of Mount Fuji from our bedroom. A spectacular treat. We ate in the hotel and had a set Japanese meal which was delicious. We practiced our Japanese as all the staff spoke little to no English, but they tried so hard to help us and were amazing. The next morning we had a nice breakfast while watching a film crew make a movie on the terrace. An added bonus. We wished we could have stayed longer and our amazing reception lady even helped us to our car with our massive suitcases. The stay really exemplified Japanese warmth and hospitality. I wish I had taken names so I could mention them personally. We were made to feel so special and it was explained to us that not many British tourists visit them and the region. I can tell you that everyone should explore beyond the main cities, as the wine is great, the countryside splendid and the Fuji views (if you're lucky like we were and got a sunny day) were breathtaking. A true highlight of our trip. Thank you everyone.

The hotel is very conveniently located near quite a few restaurants, as well as Book Off!, which is a great place to find some secondhand vintage consoles and luxury handbags (although the prices aren't very competitive). There is ample parking even though it looks like there are only a few spaces in the front. The hotel is made up of two buildings and the rest of the car park spaces are around the corner behind the main building. The breakfast is lovely and relatively inexpensive at 1300 yen for all you can eat. We had a rental car so I cannot comment on convenience to public transport. There is also an open air terrace on each floor where you can take some pictures of Mt Fuji, although you can take pictures of Mt Fuji from virtually anywhere in this town. :)

I was going to Kawaguchiko with my husband for 2 night stays, I would like to say the place was SUPERB with nice view (can view Mt Fuji from bathroom however I didn’t manage to see because of weather condition). It was a cozy cottage provided with bicycle from the owner :) Slightly distance from Kawaguchiko station, but very near to Oishi Park and Kawaguchi Asama Shrine. Definitely will come back again if I’m visiting Kawaguchiko next time :)) Cleanliness : 5/5 Comfort and Amenities: 5/5

I recommend staying. I wrote a long review separately which I hope is useful; please refer to that. In addition, for young children, you can visit the sheep shed where they keep the sheep to see sheep up close, wander down and the up the hill behind reception, and get the best tasting soft serve ever from the restaurant!

Lake Yamanaka is such a pretty place - Mt. Fuji never showed her face during our stay for the icon lake photos but it didn’t take away from the magic. The little town just 20 mins away by bus from our domes was super cute, filled with history, culture, and more shopping.

Hokuto is a bit of an off-the-beaten-track destination, perfect for a weekend or even 3 or four days. Surrounded by beautiful nature, it's a great place for hikers - since it's located at the base of the Yatsugatake mountain range. The adventurers can go explore the hiking trails and waterfalls, but also there are charming cafes, art galleries and international cuisine restaurants splattered in the area. I would avoid going there by car on a Saturday morning, because the Chuo Express Road gets packed and it may take up to six hours to get there from Tokyo (the normal is 2 hours). So if you can, go on a weekday.

We stayed for just one night to have the amazing view and cheaper hostel prices. One night in yamanakako, one night in kawaguchico, is perfect. Yamanakako is quieter and less touristy, which is exactly what we wanted. However, the bus schedule limits how many places you can go cuz they come every 1 hr
