The hotel is on the edge of a cliff overlooking the Mekong, thus the view is spectacular. It might not have the convenience of hotels in the center of the town, but it has a sense of privacy and grandness that is simply unbeatable. The entire property was so beautiful, enchanted with historical and architectural charm. Being in the hotel is like entering a time warp. The pool by the lawn is a gleaming jewel. The staff were very friendly and kind - particular thanks to James (x2), Amber, Mone and Yang who were all very helpful making sure our stay was comfortable. They organised trips for us to the caves and waterfall as well as providing a complimentary buggy service to restaurants. The Mekong Sunset Cruise led by Asri was an absolute highlight and a must do. We really enjoyed just walking around the old city. It's small and yet we still ate a different restaurant for every meal, had cocktails at sunset by the river several times, went to beautiful waterfalls, visited the buffalo dairy farm and went to several Wats. Luang Prabang was not part of our original SE Asia tour but we ended up going and so happy we did. Jungala Lounge bar for food/drinks on the Nam Khan River 360 Sunset for an inexpensive bottle of bubbles at sunset Tangor Bistro, had amazing lentil hummus and chicken strips unlike any I've ever had Tamarind is a teaching restaurant with excellent local food Khaiphaen is also a teaching restaurant with amazing food for a great price. Our wallet was stolen on the first day we arrived...
Our wallet was stolen on the first day we arrived luangprabang, we lost some Thai baht worth around usd500 not a big deal as we stopped our cards right away. The thing is if something happens to you, you got robbed/raped got sick or whatever unfortunate thing occur to you, never expect police or authorities to come to help you as there's no one willing to do the work. However, Laotian people are mostly kind so if you plan to go I wish you a lot of luck.Guest review byNawaporn
