Let's Start with location. It's situated about 10 minuts by foot from Aluthgama railway station. It's very convenient when you trevel by train like we. You shouldn't worry about noise because this hotel is on a quiet street near the river.
For people who is really in nightlife there are no bars, cafes and parties around this place. Instead of this you can enjoy amazing sunsets and try water activities on the river or fly on a glider over the beach. The hotel is separated from the beach by a river so they give you a free ride to the beach by boat. The beach is sandy, wide and almost deserted. There are no cafes but I saw several sunbeds so probably it could be rented. The coast is quite flat and the ocean depth is shallow, so the place is suitable for children
Guest house is pretty small (about 5-6 rooms) and doesn't have a garden where people can walk but we didn't suffer about it. Amazing and welcoming family run it. They helped us with all questions but were not intrusive. We took a river safari excursion from them and did not regret it. We saw monitor lizards, endemic monkeys, small crocodiles, bats and birds.
All the time we ate only in this hotel. They provide very tasty and filling breakfasts. We were served scrambled eggs in different forms (scramble, omelet, etc.), yogurt, fruit, toast, butter and jam, juice, tea or coffee. Besides they have a wide selection of dishes in menu including grilld meet( chiken, beef, porc), sea food, noodles, rice etc. All was available and has affordable price.
We stayed in family room on the first floor. It is spacious, bright, extremely clean and fully matches with photo and description.
Definitely recommend this hotel and say a huge thank you to this family!

IndiaI cannot write an objective review for the place since from me this was like a pilgrimage because I am just a huge fan of Geoffrey Bawa. Just being there was a dream come true!
The staff is exceptional, very thoughtful and well mannered.
The small touches like the happy hour where they serve home infused gin and tonic ( Bawa’s favourite) by the Lunuganga is an experience in itself.
The sense was of history , his whimsical sense of design , his attention to detail is a learning in itself..
What a legacy !

We were particularly pleased with the availability of free sunbeds, mattresses, and towels, making beach time incredibly comfortable. The presence of a small restaurant on the premises, where dishes are prepared by a professional team of chefs, was also a delightful surprise. Delicious food is an essential aspect of a fulfilling vacation.
The room we stayed in, situated on the second floor, was spacious and cozy. The interior met hotel standards with a wardrobe, luggage shelf, mirror, bedside tables, and ample lighting. The large balcony with a view of the pool and the sea was especially enjoyable, adding an extra layer of coziness.
It's worth mentioning the responsive staff, who make an effort to ensure guests have a comfortable stay. Breakfast at the on-site restaurant was also of a high standard – diverse and hearty, providing options to suit various tastes.

United KingdomI went with my wife. Very authentic Ayurveda center with 7 rooms. The doctors are very knowledgeable. We have done Ayurveda many times in srilanka and this is one of my favorites. The cave meditation , art theraphy and beach yoga were very special to us. My wife is a Doctor and she Loved it. 🥰

United StatesWe loved Sisi's place! Clean comfortable and strong enough wifi to work remotely. The room has high-end quality finishings. Quality bed and sheets. Brand new sparkling clean toilet and tiles. We enjoyed the view from the balcony set higher than surrounding buildings. Also we enjoyed the train passing my. The family was so kind and sweet. The breakfast was large, and all very good items included. We especially loved the fresh juices, coconut roti, and fruit platter, which included my favorite passion fruit. Book early is they are often sold out. We've stayed in many accommodations in Bentota and this is one of the best! Also very close to the beach. Tea, coffee, and water in the room. The room is very large and has good air flow. The floors were spotless, so you could walk barefoot comfortably. Also, the bathroom didn't have a moldy smell like many bathrooms do from moisture in Sri Lanka. Highly recommend. We loved the custom card they gave us upon departure.

United KingdomThis has to be one of my best stays in Sri Lanka. The breakfast was phenomenal, definitely the best I’ve had in my x3 week stay in Sri Lanka. Ashika, the young gentleman that runs this Guesthouse and his friend Charindu has got to be the friendliest, kindest people I’ve met during my time here, they are extremely professional, honest and speak very good English.
The guesthouse is exceptionally clean, in walking distance to the beach, and the swimming pool is heaven on earth, the room was perfect with a beautiful balcony and views of surrounding area, everything was clean. As a solo traveller I felt comfortable and safe here immediately. Ashika, cooks the most delicious food ever and is always ready to help with all your enquiries. I came from a not so clean place and he did everything to help me, even getting Aloe Vera plants from the garden for my skin. I can highly recommend this guesthouse, it’s simply one of the best. I ended up saying x3 extra night here. Thank you for everything, I truly appreciated everything you did for me.

This is our second time within 3 years. We had a vacation of our life with all the comfort and pampering by the staff on the boat. The cruise on the river provided rare glimpse of few exotic birds and a large group of monkeys. The narrations by the Manager of the Dedduwa Boat House about those birds were very informative. The Skipper was kind enough to stop along the river bank to watch the birds closely and take photographs. The candle-lit dinner and the night spend on the upper deck was simply magical. The next day my husband even managed catch some fish while cruising. The staff arranged them to be prepared for our lunch and that dish was out of this world. The staff went an extra mile to make us happy. The bedrooms and the facilities on board were above standard. This is the best destination we spend while in Sri Lanka. What is important the AC was working flawless! The wifi is very strong and fast and is working even on the pool area or by the beach. The garden is very well maintained. There was a live music almost every evening, so we used to enjoy it with some books in our hands. We did not venture into Bentota.
We did not venture into Bentota. We are expats living in Colombo so no need to explore the city. The hotel was at the right spot for a 100% relaxing weekend away with no distractions. The ocean is not that swimmable as the sea was very rough and looked dangerous. The pool was a welcome alternative. We drove to Galle for the Saturday to watch the game between Springboks and Kiwis. That was not too far, one hour away and a very scenic route. The hotel was also fully booked so must be popular.Guest review byArnoSri Lanka - 8.0

Aluthgama is a reasonably quiet town,. İt offers a bustling shopping area with plenty of local shops that provide the necessities of life without the over abundance of tourist style outlets. Local transportation as in tuk tuk are plentiful and very cheap. İt is surrounded by beautiful open spaces showcasing the areas natural beauty. My favourite place was the turtle hatchery. Most meals were eaten at the Hotel. Very easy to get around. There is a tour agency opposite the hotel entrance, it cant get any better than that. It is easy to take tuk tuk or van taxis. Superior beach front view. Beautiful gardens and swimming pool. Well done to the management and staff for this top class facility. Villa 252 Kosgoda, With its beautiful sandy beaches. Not too busy and very pleasant to stay and lots to do in the erea. A visit to the Galbokka Sea Turtle conservation is very worthwhile! Or a wonderful massage at the Aryuvedic center. Or take a boad safari at the Maduganga lake. The General Tsunami Photography Museum in Telwatta is a must see if you want to know more about this terrible event. From here a trip to the 'Ducht Fort' in Galle is also recommended. Stayed at Thaala Bentota recently and had a pleasant experience. The location is excellent—right by the beach with easy and direct access, making it perfect for a relaxing getaway. The hotel itself is well-maintained with a calm and welcoming atmosphere. The breakfast buffet was a highlight, offering a good variety and fresh options. Dinner buffet had fewer choices in comparison, but the quality was still decent and satisfying for the price. Ahungalla is a little village, hence to see places around you need bus or tuk tuk services, they run on main road all the time. We loved Bentota - a resort 20 min on a bus - it had calm beach and cafes to eat/drink around. Just outside Bentota there is village where you can get good shopping for clothes, gifts etc. Galle is 50min drive on a bus from Ahungalla. It's a lovely historic place to visit. We liked Ahungalla as it's less busy/noisy than other towns, and the villa we stayed was 5min walk to the beach. Lovely place to relax. Large beach. Not many restaurants on the beach and not as populated with tourists as other areas we visited, but we loved spending time in Shah Shah's and found a sun bed to relax in with an umbrella. Also recommend Pier 88 to eat out in near by Aluthgama, lovely river views and good quality food. Also recommend Kandoori if you fancy a bit of Indian cuisine. We didn't do many day trips as we had already done some in Mirissa but we did do a boat safari that was pleasant enough. Great location if you want to be relatively near to Colombo and the airport. We stayed at Janus Paradise restaurant cabanas it was fabulous food was amazing lovely clean rooms , staff extremely helpful . Food was delicious, pool clean , we arrived during the Sri Lankan new year and was given a beautiful meal for breakfast , it was just lovely.
