Everything at Amba Kola was exceptional - especially the people. Louise, Janik, and Janik’s whole family are the loveliest people you will meet. The food is fantastic - everything is locally sourced and prepared with the finest spices and lots of love (Janik’s mom is an award-winning cook by the way). At Amba Kola the hosts will go above and beyond to make your stay memorable. They took us around in their safari jeep to see the elephants and wildlife and we even went swimming in the canal! The room (and the whole property) are lovely with so many personal touches to it. Louise is an artist and her art is present all over the place! Also, the outdoor bathroom is unique. I showered in the dark under the stars - an experience like no other. All I can say is: Come to Amba Kola and see for yourself. These people deeply care for what they do and it shows in every aspect. You won’t be disappointed!

Wild Lake Side is a gem. Milan and his family took extra care and attention for our 3-night stay. The cabin was fantastic and built with care. Sitting out on the deck overlooking the stream and jungle was a peaceful treat. We enjoyed the homecooked meals very much, and the family was very flexible with timing and variety of options. They organized two 4-hour private safaris for us in their very cool vintage safari vehicle that was the perfect size for two people. We chose to do morning and afternoon safaris on two separate days and it was a nice balance of relaxing at the cabin and enjoying the park. Our guide was exceptional as he shared many details about the range of birds and animals we encountered. This was our second time visiting Sri Lanka and our stay here stands out as the best experience.

The location is beautiful, gardens are full of fresh fruit which was part of the delicious breakfast, the pool is fantastic, the host was incredibly helpful and made me a packed lunch for the safari which he organised as well as my onward trip to Tangalle, also the dinner was delicious which consisted of different Srilankan curries…so tasty! My room was really spacious and the bed very comfortable with an amazing rainfall shower in a newly built bathroom. I spent 3 days here and it was bliss 🌟

Beautiful, quiet location. The lodge is excellent, the best quiet environment I had in Sri Lanka, the jacuzzi tub is perfect for a dip after a long safari. The owner and staff are very friendly. The lodge also organized my private safari and my guide, driver Janaka, was excellent. I actually liked my Udawalawe safari better than the one I did in Yala.

The property is exceptionally clean. Pool was lovely. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay so memorable. The owner had 13 years experience as a safari guide.     So, I've stayed at Hotel Athgira 5 times before. Never had a single complaint. This time the pool was being renovated so was moved to Athgira River camping.. Hotel Athgira is wonderful, I would have no hesitation going back .. but Athgira River Camping .. W O W! I usually stay for one night in Udawalawe to go on safari and visit the transit home .. I genuinely could have stayed at River Camping for a month. The whole team are warm and welcoming. The surroundings are idyllic .. quite literally the perfect place to forget your worries.. on arrival I took a video for my folks at home and a total stranger, on a sunbed around the pool (there are 2 of them!) .. just looked up and said to me "welcome to paradise" .. I can't say any more than that!

    The rustic charm and quirkiness of the treehouse exceeded expectations. The staff we’re fantastic and took us on a private safari in Udawalawe (about 25 minutes away) where we got so close to the elephants. They also arranged a guided canoe trip on the nearby lake - sadly no bathing elephants this time but plenty of other wildlife to see. The evening meal we had there was perhaps the best curry I have ever eaten and all of this at exceptionally good prices. We spoke to several people who went to Yala and spent far more, saw far less and didn’t seem get anywhere near the experience we did.

    A wonderful place set by a little river where I could see monkeys in the trees from my veranda.. Don't get scared of the word tent, it's more like a room with material walls, better than many other rooms I have stayed in. I went on a safari they arranged and their guide/driver was very good. He even sat up chairs and a little table for us in the open when it was time for the breakfast he had brought. After a day on safari it was nice to cool off in the well kept pool at the guesthouse. The food in the restaurant was very good. I really liked the place and I can highly recommend it.

    On the border of the jungle one finds this exceptional hotel. The manager and staff are very welcoming. The breakfast and pool staff are also very friendly and helpful. We unexpectedly got an upgrade to one of the best suites in the hotel. The rooms are nicely decorated, impeccably clean and spacious. This suite had a bedroom, a living room besides access to a balcony and a large patio area on its roof. The choice at breakfast is very vast. A excellent hotel to stay to do a safari or visit the nearby junior elephant transit centre. Certainly hotel to return to.

    Great accommodation! We had a lovely stay. The rooms are clean and spacious and the pool is wonderful. We had breakfast and diner there, which was very nice. No need to leave the premises… They arranged the afternoon safari for us which was just perfect! We saw so many nice animals! The guide was very knowledgeable and took a quiet route. The staff at the resort is just so nice and helpful! We really recommend staying there! Great views of the river and so many beautiful birds, the safari starts at your arrival❤️❤️❤️ can’t wait to ga back one day.

    Birds Paradise Inn is an amazing place with bungalows in the middle of a big green garden. In front you have a river. You can see and hear birds, sometimes you also meet a monkey.     Super kind and friendly staff. Definitely the best of the camp. The tents are super well equipped. You feel you are in a camp without compromising on comfort. The setting is very nice, and the vibe at night is awesome with the bonfire and the fire lamps. Great option to stay one night if you want to do safari in the afternoon and in the morning.

    The Country Side Hotel at Uda Walawe is a very nice place right off the main road. Rooms are spacious and clean, overlooking a ~10m long swimming pool within the trees. It is a very nice please to stay overnight before an early morning safari. Breakfast is excellent, as the warm staff members. Such a real pleasure that i stayed an extra day!

    Very friendly staff gave a warm welcome. The welcome coffee was the best time of my life. Not only that, I was surprised because the pool was so clean and beautiful. And another best option is that my friends also went on safari with them so we organized the safari with them. The driver is very friendly and has 10 years of experience. Thank you for everything.

    This place is one of my favorites in Sri Lanka! It was such a beautiful surprise! Calm area, very nice outdoor setting, the room was very spacious (as was the bathroom!) So let's talk details: - Food: Amazing! Home cooked food, with candlelight and the sounds of nature! - Safari: He was a very good company during my trip! He gave me some tips, was very flexible with my requests. - Helpfulness: Arranged a taxi to my next destination, Overall, it was totally worth it, you will really enjoy it! !
