I loved this little place. I think it might be family owned, but it was just so quaint and comfortable. It has one room with a balcony, and I immediately reserved it when I knew I would be stopping in this small town. It wasn't much more expensive, but it made the room bigger, and I could sit outside at night and relax. The breakfast was really excellent. It's not a buffet; you enter the restaurant and your table has been set out for you. It was a big breakfast, and I couldn't eat everything. But I tried. Everything was super fresh and flavorful. I also had something to eat there the evening before, and although the menu wasn't huge, the food was great. The town is very small, but you can walk across a footbridge to an island where there are ancient ruins of a fortress. Sometimes this site is used for concerts and live events, although none were scheduled when I was there. I went for a quick swim in the lake nearby. I discovered a fabulous Latvian beer called Valmiermuiza in this place.

Very nice and clean flat. It was a pleasure to stay. The bathroom is equipped with shower gel, shampoo, and soap. Kitchen with refrigerator, microwave oven, cooking plate and other available. Friendly owner. Good location, not far from the bus coach station and 15-20 min. walking distance to the station of retro train Alūksne-Gulbene. Definitely recommended!.
