Our Edith Piaf suite was spacious, we had 2 bathrooms which was great - one off the living space and the other next to the bedroom - this one had a little shower room which I really quite liked. Everything was very clean and the room was attended to everyday which included the provision of water to drink. We made use of the facilities including the beautiful heated pool with keys to swim against; an amazing Hammam experience, our first one; the gym which felt really great after not having done a weights session for a couple of weeks; and the bar downstairs. The portuguese fortification on the seashore was spectacular.There is a wonderful beach nearby. Far less foreign tourists than other places. It is geographically placed between Casablanca and Rabat and the location is brilliant for people to commute and tour Morroco. Feels a bit like undiscovered St Tropez. Beautiful, striking views, nature, bird watching. Unfortunately, the way they cooked fish at most places was not up to par for us. Beni Mellal is cute enough.
Beni Mellal is cute enough. The town seems chill and gives the right kind of Moroccan vibes. Since we went during Ramadan, eating wasn't much of a highlight: in the daylight hours we were forced to accept McDonald's drive-thru before heading out on a day trip, but that night we had pizza at Davinci Restaurant, which was surprisingly quite good (particularly if you're familiar with pizza in Morocco) and overall well managed. The region is even more spectacular: drive over the mountain range to Bin El Ouidane (1 hour) and continue to Ouzoud Falls (1 hour more) via Azilal (about midway in between). We went early to the waterfalls and it was really quiet which was great. The coffee shops, restaurants and shops weren't open. We weren't there for that so that was fine.There was lots of free parking. Falls were great and the trail interesting. Trip to the falls was great, good atmosphere with local lads climbing up mountain face and jumping and diving into falls, we did the small trip up to the falls the spray was much needed as it was roasting, even got to row the boat round, got some lively snaps and videos although I didn't go into the water. Very professional, and courteous staff. They serve from the heart. I will not share what their wages are, but tipping is not against the rules.
