- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 403 reviewsWOW. First of all, the owners/managers and staff are so friendly and welcoming. When you drive into the hotel grounds it is like arriving in some kind of garden of Eden. They have beautifully landscaped the grounds so it’s full of a diversity of native plants and birds, even better than the botanic gardens in many ways! If I had been there longer I would have enjoyed using the fantastic gym facilities and free yoga classes. I had one of the Mountain View rooms with a private pool and it was incredible. One of the nicest rooms I’ve ever stayed in. It was large with a spacious terrace. Gorgeous outdoor shower. They left body oil and scrub which was a really nice touch. There was a really nice shared pool area too which was never busy. I really enjoyed sitting after dinner next to the fire pit and reading my book. The sky was clear with a great view of the stars and at dusk you could see all the fruit bats flying over. The view bar was really good, great cocktails and lots of free snacks brought round! And of course a great view. I drove down to Le Morne beach which was gorgeous and had some good snorkeling right off it. Much quieter than other beaches I visited further up the coast. I went to the geo park and waterfall which were lovely. With more time and some cooler temperatures I would have liked to have explored some of the hiking around. Amazing place I will recommend to friends and family, I hope to get the chance to go back.Guest review byAlexaUnited Kingdom
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 458 reviewsIt was amazing. When we saw the view, we were speechless. Our apartmant called "Le Perchoir" was perfect. It has a very well equipped kitchen, bedroom was very comfortable. Everything was clean. We could use the grill on the terrace. The view was faboulus. Staff was very kind. Breakfast was also perfect. Although, there were thousands of mosquitos outside, there was no mosquito in our room at all so we could sleep. There are 5-6 different hiking trails, you can meet horses, chickens, cute kitties. They focus on the sustainability so there is selective waste collection and every apartmant has their own compost bucket, we really appreciated it. We really hope, that we can return here one day :-)Guest review byBálintHungary
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,561 reviewsThe LUX* hotel left a remarkable first impression with their warm welcome. The room was superb, providing both comfort and elegance. The food options were exceptional and diverse, accompanied by kind and attentive service. The beach strip was spacious and sprawling, perfect for relaxing and soaking up the picturesque views. It was a relief to have reliable WiFi access throughout the property, making it easy to stay connected. It's clear that LUX* hotel is one of the top hotels in Mauritius. In addition, Garish from the nurse's room provided exceptional service when we were in need, even saving our vacation. Overall, our stay at the LUX* hotel was truly outstanding.Guest review byAmirIsrael

Incredible panoramic view for the ocean and mountains from everywhere - from terrace of our villa, from the restaurant - it is very romantic... The hotel located just in the National Park - very quiet and calm place. Very cute, well-decorated and equipped villa with 2 terraces. Very tasty food in the restaurant - it was like gastronomic tour for us. The luxorios dinner and breakfast was included.Guest review byOlgaRussia

Walking on the beach was fun, and the water allowed easy swimming even for the not-so-strong swimmer. The food carts added restaurant variety. We had good meals at Bouganvillea and Chez Pepe, but also enjoyed eating in and watching the sunset. Lovely shopping, interesting people, and the public bus service worked for us. However, it was interesting that the same trip was free outbound and then cost 100 rupees (3 people) for the return trip (with no tickets issued).Guest review byDivyaSouth Africa - 10.0

Tu beach is just amazing, the color of the water is impressive, in the public beach you have to possibility to see the see turtles. The place is a piece of paradise. Definitely worth to go and to spend some time there. I would recommend an hotel next to the le Morne beach most of the hotel do not have the possibility to eat or rent the sun bed just daily. Also I would recommend the experience of swimming with the dolphins that is offered almost everywhere.Guest review byAnnaItaly - 8.0

We liked the area close to the Riviere Noire Reserve and it was convenient for the quieter beaches on the south coast. We recommend a guided tour of the Ebony Forest Reserve. We had a fascinating day out with a very knowledgeable guide and saw a lot of birdlife; the views out to sea are also stunning. Be warned: driving in Mauritius is not easy, even with satnav! We got lost several times, especially around Port Louis. If you choose to go to Port Louis, we recommend using the local bus. There is a bus stop two minutes' walk from the apartment (shortly before London Way supermarket). You can pick up a bus at about 7.30 am and return on a 119 bus at 30 minutes past the hour from Immigration Square near the waterfront of Port Louis. If you want to eat out, the Happy Rajah restaurant on the main road serves good value Indian food. The fish thali is particularly tasty.Guest review byVirginiaItaly - 10.0

It's a properly rustic paradise area, away from the more fabricated hotel resorts. Lots of locals who know one another and it feels safe, if a little rough around the edges. It has its own cultural and geographical charm that seems to differentiate it from other parts of Mauritius. Lots of places to eat, a good supermarket - seems expensive for the area, but I think this is quite common. Good offers of boat hire to get over to Ile aux Benitiers, which is well worth it. Close proximity to the lovely Morne peninsular and Black River Gorges National Park and surrounds.Guest review byPaulUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Sure La Preneuse is the nearest beach, though If you're looking for the best beaches around, take that trip to Le Morne beach, it's worth it. We went to the only Thai restaurant in the area,'Ousaporn', indeed an oasis in that small town, great Deco, felt right, the staffs were admirable, the food was succulent but portion were quite small disproportionately over-priced . A day at the beach at Flic en flac is worth the tour, watch the sun set into the deep sea, then hit one of the restaurant around the area.Guest review byYogeshSpain - 10.0

this is amazing place, the view is breathtaking, the chalet is spacious, very calm, the food is satisfying and the staff is very supportive and helping. it is ideal for a short stay as if you would like to do more tours the location is bit far from everything and very challenging to reach. the best is to stay there and visit the nearby places around Chamarel.Guest review byDragicaUnited Arab Emirates - 10.0

Flic'en'Flac is the best place to stay on Mauritius, especially if you're visiting Mauritius in July. North was windy, south rainy but west side just perfect. It is a nice, vaste sandy beach with pine trees and palm trees, nice hotels and resorts, bars, restaurants and street food.Guest review byAndrijaCroatia - 2.0
Financial exploitation is the title of this hotel.
Financial exploitation is the title of this hotel. Financial exploitation defines the taxi drivers. Financial exploitation dominates the boat rental services. Financial exploitation extends even to the zoo. Exploitation is the main theme, and as a city, it offers nothing enjoyable.Guest review byMohamed Zaher - 10.0

lovely shopping complexes, boutiques, restaurants, and supermarket if you are self catering. Great place to tour around, for a heli-copter ride in the south to see the underwater waterfall, and go to the Ebony ForestGuest review byCelia ColemanSouth Africa - 6.0
La Gaulette does not have a beach and the sea there is ugly.
La Gaulette does not have a beach and the sea there is ugly. Le Morne (which is very close) is the only place nearby with a nice beach, but it is widely occupied by luxury hotels. another problem with La Gaulette is that it is not usable as a base for visiting Mauritius, becasue is far away from all main attractions except 7 color earth and Black River falls.Guest review byUgoBItaly
