Very safe and friendly.
Very safe and friendly. Its also very Mexican, so if you don't speak and Spanish you will get frustrated. The mining museums are great, but again, all in Spanish. Its called the windy city by the locals and it does get cold, so keep a coat handy. Good food is everywhere, but getting vegetarian and seafood meals is a bit of an effort. If you are traveling thru Mexico and can find Pachuca on the map then it is worth staying there. The traffic and footpaths are a little congested, but everyone is friendly and its a real piece of Mexico. Its a holiday location for Mexicans, so there is not a lot of English spoken there, we only saw one gent that might have been a foreigner in the two days we were there. So you know you have traveled when staying here. Mining museum is great for all ages and shows the Mexican, British and American history of the area. It was freezing cold outdoors, even though it was March. The was a mist till 10am. There are scores of stray dogs. Scary. The historic sites are all well kept and the info on posters is in Spanish and GOOD English! Great street food. Elotes, fresh, huge, cheap. Marquezitas, better than in Mérida!
