It is quite safe walking around at night. We had a small room next to the pool which was mostly very quiet. Lovely garden area for breakfast or evening drinks The staff were very friendly and helpful. In particular, I highly recommend Milton at the front desk, who went out of his way to help us find a private car service to our next stop in El Salvador, as our extensive Internet searches were fruitless. (See below) We really appreciate the efforts that Milton made to help us. Claudio, from ‘Transport & Shuttles Nicas’, can be found on FaceBook, and he was far better and far cheaper than other corporate car services we found and he drove us in a brand new very comfortable air con car all the way through Nicaragua across Honduras and crossed two borders to get us safely and easily into El SalvadorGuest review byPaulineAustralia

It's painful recent history has been carefully remembered without being oppressive to tourists. The Hotel Flor de Sarta is nicely located on the edge of the city centre so guests can spend time in the bustling city as well as relax within the hotel area. There is a small pool which is perfect for a quick dip to cool down and there is a quiet courtyard where you can sit and read under cover during the heat of the day. Breakfast is typically Nicaraguan, which means it is simple but excellent. If you prefer something different there are plenty of cafes nearby. Common areas are super comfortable, overlooking the beach, and encourages chatting with the other guests but there's also areas to chill in a hammock, do yoga, or watch the surf and beach action. The young staff are very lively and welcoming. Our beginner surf lesson was awesome. A/C in the room worked very well and the sleep was quiet (except during the day when neighbours play music). Only 20min away (car) from The Beach (Pacific Ocean). The Cabanas are nice (No AC but with aeration). The regular rooms are super comfortable (+ AC !) Leon is a pretty and interesting city.
Leon is a pretty and interesting city. We enjoyed a walking tour and the art museum was absolutely fantastic. We also really enjoyed doing a few trips from here - to the beach/mangroves at Las Penatas, and a volcano hike. Las Penitas is only 2 hours from Managua and 20 mins from lovely Leon. It’s totally relaxing, with some great places to eat for every budget, surf schools and mangroves to explore. The fishermen bringing their boats in up the river are a great sight to see at high tide. Food was great, Tony was an amazing server and took care of us like we were family. On the down side, hotel needs a lot of improvement. Bathrooms are very duty, the lobby for some reason smelled like pee, and the cushions on the dining area were very duty too.Guest review byannette_0812Nicaragua
