The city is so beautiful and taking a canal boat tour is an absolute must! It is a very busy city with a lot of people walking and biking around. Beware of the bikes! They go faster than the cars do! We walked everywhere as it is a very walkable city and ate at Prince Charming Restaurant and The Grasshopper. Both had good food and beautiful decor inside. The Grasshopper is right on the canal and absolutely beautiful to go to at night time.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

A very good hotel, spacious rooms, a nice and large lobby and well connected to public transport and the airport. I wouldn't stay here in summer though, the windows open a crack and there is very little ventilation.Guest review byRyan AlbuquerqueIndia - 8.0

The Shiphol Airport is our favourite airport to enter and leave Europe. The Shiphol Plaza inside the airport gives you the option to eat for the first - or the last time - depends if you're coming or going - a delicious bite of European food. You may also just land with a carry-on and start shopping for clothes there. As Shiphol offers free WiFi you're able to navigate around even if your cell phone plan is not covering Europe. The main hall is also the entrance to the train station where you can start with a train (don't forget to buy a ticket at one of the many ticket machines, or pre-book online) to Amsterdam Centraal Station in the middle of Amsterdam.Guest review byVeronikaCanada - 10.0

Although our hotel was in an area that felt like a business park, it was a short walk to a nice, wooded suburban trail. This led to clean, nice neighborhoods. We ended up walking for a little over a mile to a local restaurant in the Sloterweg neighborhood. A very pleasant experience.Guest review byKristinaUnited States - 10.0
A lovely town on the Dutch coast.
A lovely town on the Dutch coast. Great for the beach, the dunes and access to Haarlem, Amsterdam and beyond, with regular buses and trains to both Lots of lovely places to eat (and what I believe to be the best chips in the world, at Fritures D’anvers) Wonderful ice cream at San Remo Cafe Mio Great for tapas Can’t comment much on the beach bars as we’ve not really used them A nice little selection of shops, you can get pretty much everything you need for your stay, right on the doorstep. 3 supermarkets all within a few mins’ walk of each other, plus lots of lovely smaller shops for groceries tooGuest review byLornaUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Reasonable cost for parking (anywhere in Europe frankly) is my motivation to look outside of centre of city areas and then use local transport or walk. Parking costs at hotels in our budget in Amsterdam city were very high - secure convenient Q-park station in Amsterveen was E18 per day compared to E40-50 a day at hotels closer to the centre.Guest review bySusanAustralia - 10.0

For me the human-scale of the houses is Haarlem's greatest gift to the WORLD today and is the reason why I always come back as long as I can. Another attraction is that there are so many cute, little streets tucked away, so there are lots of places to walk through sampling the quiet charm which is NOT TOURISTY at all. The inhabitants clearly take great pride in what they grow in front of their doorsteps. For me it is the kind of heaven that humans can make if only they try.Guest review byPommerelAustralia - 8.0

Zaandam is ok, it feels safe and looks nice. Our stay really started on a Sunday and nothing was open, bear this in mind if you stay at EasyHotel as there is nothing there either. Rail service is excellent and we had a super day at Zaanse schans.Guest review bylenUnited Kingdom - 10.0

It is a small city, very clean, neat and attractive with interesting streets and canals. It has a very old large church with a magnificent organ in which cultural events are held regularly. There is a also a Stedelijk museum, worth a visit. It takes only 35 mins by train to reach Amsterdam. Fabulous countryside for cycling. Beach and North Sea close by.Guest review byGaeAustralia - 8.0

Many opportunities for eating out and close to the beach and nature. Relatively far from the other cities but not as far as De Cocksdorp: Den Burg or De Waal would be a better option if you want to be in a more central area, but everything is relatively close so it does not matter too much.Guest review byAnonymous
