The hotel is situated in a tiny picturesque village from the late 19th century by the Luster fjord, overlooking a fantastic view. It has Norway’s best breakfast with everything you may wish, and fantastic service. For extra luxury, enjoy a wonderful 4-course dinner prepared by some of our best chefs, followed by a drink and coffee in the garden. We stayed in one of the modern rooms, which has plenty of space and a nice porch on the lawn to enjoy the morning sun. There was chance to warm up room with radiator and additionally in the bathroom is heated floor. It is in the case when it is raining. All the kitchen equipment needed to prepare a meal, tea, coffee (I was there at the end of April 2025, before breakfast was served and weather still was cold). Soft bed, stylish lightning in the room, which can be regulated. Free Wi-Fi. Parking almost near the doors or little bit down. This parking down is quite big. Easy to get key with PIN from email. Easy to leave the key in "check-out" box after.

Excellent hiking opportunities, the trail to Molkeflaten begins nearby. Due to some mistake during reservation, our appartment had only one bed. Aurland is a quiet town with a well-stocked grocery and an excellent bakery. It is not a port of call for the huge Sognefjord cruise ships, so it is not overrun by tourists multiple times a day. By car, the town is 20 minutes from Flåm, 35 minutes from Lærdal via the Lærdalstunnelen (the world's longest road tunnel, at almost 25km), and 2.5 hours from Bergen. A refueling station is located just south of town, off the E-16 roundabout. It offers reasonable prices for electric vehicle charging and petrol/diesel fuel. And, it serves the best homemade soup in the area!

Everyone will tell you it’s a tiny tourist trap with nothing to do etc and yes, it’s the tourists’ first stop in the fjords and everything is overpriced. However, if you explore, you can find things to see and do from there. It’s peaceful and quite beautiful, so definitely go when there isn’t a cruise ship in the tiny port.

My adult daughters and I were visiting Norway and planned to drive from Bergen to Alesund. We chose the Loen because it was about half way between each city. We spent two nights at the Loen. The beds were comfortable. Food was very good considering my kids are vegetarian. Desert table was amazing. Spa area was lovely, relaxing and we spent a few hours just lounging in the waters - showere, sauna, steam, cold plunge, whirlpool etc. Pools were also fun. We also went hiking in the area. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would recommend it to anyone traveling in the area.

Its a place which has lots of amazing things to do, every corner has a picture perfect view. In the beginning you might feel that 2-3 days are enough but I think you at least need 5 days. Good place to stay, we went to flam and Odda. Going and coming back from Odda was little bit hectic because it was raining heavily, the roads are very small, there are some places where there is only one lane, no two vehicles will fit. so be careful at such road. The nature is amazing, flam station has good food stall, I guess all major street foods.

Flam port is not a little town it's a port with tourist facilities and the famous amazing train trip which we loved. I would recommend people staying in nearby towns like Aurlands which has a little town vibe. I did not visit the proper town of Flam but I'm sure it would also be charming.
