- From US$171.60 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,537 reviewsNice apartment with 3 bedrooms in a ex-fishing village, where tradition is combinate with modernity. The apartment, especially the living room, was cozy, with a really nice view on the fjord. The bedrooms have minimal furniture, but for us was ok. Equipped kitchen. The ex-rorbuer is situated on a beautiful location in Senja. A small village, great for hiking and walking (fishing) to the sea. We walked on Knuten Trail Head (views to Mefjord port and two small lakes at the foot on the mountains), Hike Fjordgard (beautiful views on Segla peak and fjords from Hesten peak) and Husfjellet Trekking (beautiful views on fjords from Husfjellet peak). Restaurant nice in location, make sure to reserve your place. Friendly staff. Parking free.Guest review byTiberiuRomania
- From US$163.11 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 638 reviewsThe Senja Fjordhotel is a tucked away in the extreme south of the island on the shores of a small fjord. Its very modern as only built 5-6 years ago so was very comfortable with high end fittings. The room was plenty big for both of us and had a nice dual aspect view over the fjord and small boat jetty. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Its a small boutique type hotel and the staff vere very friendly and professional and gave some good tips on local activities. Breakfats each morning was excellent as was the evening dinner. The beauty of the location is that the only thing to do is enjoy nature, we got in some swims and hike in the national park so really enjoyed our three days thereGuest review byDonalIreland
- From US$163.51 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.1Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,371 reviewsReally nice studio. Stayed in the upper floor . Facing west side of the sky I watched the Aurora dancing from the sofa of the living room. Excellent breakfast buffet as well. Tried the Hot tub completely value for money although the water temperature was around 35 ( Would be better if it around 40 , not complaining though) . The property also has lots of parking spaces with Electrical charging . Overall a 10/10 stay.Guest review byArijitSweden

We adored the breakfast options! There is also free tea and coffee at the lobby. The restaurant (same building but different wing) was amazing too! Huge parking area too, right in front of the hotel.Guest review byAnitaAustria

We came for the midnight marathon as the principal drive for our visit but had a couple of days before to look around. We should have done it the other way round as we could not enjoy the sight seeing as much because of fretting about the run. I think our favourite thing were the seals at Polaria though. The city is very walkable but the scooters are easy to pick up if you have had enough. Unfortunately the cable car up the mountain overlooking Tromso was under repair and I was looking forward to going up it. I thought this was odd timing as they new a lot of people would be coming to the city for the race...Guest review byKirstenUnited Kingdom - 10.0
A gateway to other areas like Lofoten.
A gateway to other areas like Lofoten. My recommendation is to stay further afield to the full extent you can. as things like quiet, darkness and views all improve a lot away from the airport. And once you do... it can be magic.Guest review byPeterNew Zealand - 10.0

Very picturesque island, two days is more than enough to explore it. Sunshine is a rarity. End of season mid August. Place for camper vans to park. One shop and one cafe. You can buy only beer in a shop, no alcohol. For a harder spirits you need to travel to Tromso. Bring your food if you can, shops sells very simple and not very good staff. More or less decent meal you can have in an arctic hotel, which is pricey and just ok, no more, choice is limited.Guest review byTanyaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Nice place for a short stay.
Nice place for a short stay. Without a car you run out of options quickly. Smaller hiking trips and ski tours possible in the valley. Northern lights possible when there is no midnight sun. No supermarket in the village.Guest review byVincentGermany - 10.0
Bought a 24 hour bus pass.
Bought a 24 hour bus pass. Was really easy to navigate to cathedral, botanic gardens, tromso museum, airport. Central downtown is very easy to walk around, harbor is pleasant. We got a rental car to explore outside the city after that for 5 nights before flying on. Would recommend getting out to the city also as there is much beauty within an hour - however you chose to do that.Guest review byHenryUnited States - 10.0
The city itself is not necessarily special or historic (...
The city itself is not necessarily special or historic (though some bits are) but the area around the city has some great scenic walks and of course the outlook across the sea/bay is stunning at any time of year, but particularly in the blue hour of the winter days. Lots of buses run regularly to outlying areas and there are fast buses to the airport to connect with flight check-in times. Take a walk along Stien langs sjøen (path along the shore) to the Trondenes Historical Museum (great wee cafe there) and the Adolf cannon from WW2.Guest review byFraserUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The cabin we stayed in was roomy, wonderfully provisioned, and exceptionally clean. The restaurant offers a full-selection breakfast buffet and a full-service dinner that includes a selection of regional fish deliciously prepared. The village is quaint and charming and has several local, short hikes that are walking distance from the hotel. We loved everything about our stay and hope to return someday to see the Northern Lights!Guest review byLeenaUnited States - 8.0
Iconic arctic city. Good people.
Iconic arctic city. Good people. Feels a little like it's geared up for American cruise ships; the main street has 7-11s and the world's most northerly MacDonalds and several giant souvenir stores. And, boy, is it hard to get a reasonably priced vegetarian meal? Still, the library building is something to write home about, and the tunnels and underground car park are just remarkable.Guest review byJeremyUnited Kingdom - 4.0
A transfer to the AirPort would be nice.
A transfer to the AirPort would be nice. Its one kilometer dangerous road and much heavy traffic. Taxi cost: 350 :- for drivning 3 minutes. We booked to be near the airport so it was a disapointment.Guest review byKatarinaSweden - 10.0

Mefjordvaer is absolutely beautiful, and within short drives (< 1 hour on narrow winding roads) of many other beautiful places. We stayed for two days but if you like the outdoors there would be enough activity options for a week or more.Guest review byAndrewGermany
