- From $260.24 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very Good - What previous guests thought, 678 reviewsThis resort was everything I ever dreamed it would be! We rented a car and drove from Tromso. We spent two nights in a cabin and one night in hotel both had amazing views and we enjoyed both the same! We were fortunate to see northern lights 2 out of 3 nights we were there! The guides are amazing for the excursions and really make the experience! But you will be cold (as expected) and its a 1km uphill walk to most of them so I’d recommend booking excursions on separate days for your experience to be most enjoyable especially if traveling with kids. Definitely book excursions early as they do book out! We made a video highlighting our travel experience here and northern light views https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_30ASEX0vqoGuest review byAlexandraUnited States
- From $246.42 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Excellent - What previous guests thought, 598 reviewsA cozy unit with everything you need. Very quiet and peaceful stay. You are right at the waterfront and you can see the northern lights if the weather is good. If there are instructions provided regarding how to use the stove, that will be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, it was a perfect stay. Communication with the host was good :)Guest review byCertinaCanada

We came for the midnight marathon as the principal drive for our visit but had a couple of days before to look around. We should have done it the other way round as we could not enjoy the sight seeing as much because of fretting about the run. I think our favourite thing were the seals at Polaria though. The city is very walkable but the scooters are easy to pick up if you have had enough. Unfortunately the cable car up the mountain overlooking Tromso was under repair and I was looking forward to going up it. I thought this was odd timing as they new a lot of people would be coming to the city for the race...Guest review byKirstenUnited Kingdom - 10.0
A gateway to other areas like Lofoten.
A gateway to other areas like Lofoten. My recommendation is to stay further afield to the full extent you can. as things like quiet, darkness and views all improve a lot away from the airport. And once you do... it can be magic.Guest review byPeterNew Zealand - 10.0

Very picturesque island, two days is more than enough to explore it. Sunshine is a rarity. End of season mid August. Place for camper vans to park. One shop and one cafe. You can buy only beer in a shop, no alcohol. For a harder spirits you need to travel to Tromso. Bring your food if you can, shops sells very simple and not very good staff. More or less decent meal you can have in an arctic hotel, which is pricey and just ok, no more, choice is limited.Guest review byTanyaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Nice place for a short stay.
Nice place for a short stay. Without a car you run out of options quickly. Smaller hiking trips and ski tours possible in the valley. Northern lights possible when there is no midnight sun. No supermarket in the village.Guest review byVincentGermany - 10.0
Bought a 24 hour bus pass.
Bought a 24 hour bus pass. Was really easy to navigate to cathedral, botanic gardens, tromso museum, airport. Central downtown is very easy to walk around, harbor is pleasant. We got a rental car to explore outside the city after that for 5 nights before flying on. Would recommend getting out to the city also as there is much beauty within an hour - however you chose to do that.Guest review byHenryUnited States - 10.0

The city itself is not necessarily special or historic (though some bits are) but the area around the city has some great scenic walks and of course the outlook across the sea/bay is stunning at any time of year, but particularly in the blue hour of the winter days. Lots of buses run regularly to outlying areas and there are fast buses to the airport to connect with flight check-in times. Take a walk along Stien langs sjøen (path along the shore) to the Trondenes Historical Museum (great wee cafe there) and the Adolf cannon from WW2.Guest review byFraserUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The cabin we stayed in was roomy, wonderfully provisioned, and exceptionally clean. The restaurant offers a full-selection breakfast buffet and a full-service dinner that includes a selection of regional fish deliciously prepared. The village is quaint and charming and has several local, short hikes that are walking distance from the hotel. We loved everything about our stay and hope to return someday to see the Northern Lights!Guest review byLeenaUnited States - 8.0
Iconic arctic city. Good people.
Iconic arctic city. Good people. Feels a little like it's geared up for American cruise ships; the main street has 7-11s and the world's most northerly MacDonalds and several giant souvenir stores. And, boy, is it hard to get a reasonably priced vegetarian meal? Still, the library building is something to write home about, and the tunnels and underground car park are just remarkable.Guest review byJeremyUnited Kingdom - 4.0
A transfer to the AirPort would be nice.
A transfer to the AirPort would be nice. Its one kilometer dangerous road and much heavy traffic. Taxi cost: 350 :- for drivning 3 minutes. We booked to be near the airport so it was a disapointment.Guest review byKatarinaSweden - 10.0

Mefjordvaer is absolutely beautiful, and within short drives (< 1 hour on narrow winding roads) of many other beautiful places. We stayed for two days but if you like the outdoors there would be enough activity options for a week or more.Guest review byAndrewGermany
