Christchurch was my favourite NZ City, before the earthquake. Loved its architecture, especially the Cathedral and the Square. It has changed a lot since it was rebuilt after the earthquake. I could not recognise the present Christchurch from the old Christchurch. While I much prefer the old one, the new one is not bad. Love the cherry blossoms!Guest review byOmelaNew Zealand - 10.0
I adore Lake Tekapo. Views for days. Good hot pools.
I adore Lake Tekapo. Views for days. Good hot pools. Peaceful. A decent serious hike up Mt John to the Observatory Cafe or an easier one up to Cowes Lookout, both with amazing views. I've been going for years - still small but a good supermarket now and more eateries. It is getting busier and pricey, both accommodation and eateries. On the road to Queenstown so an easy stopover. Go with a car if you can - a side trip into Aoraki Mt Cook and walks up the Hooker Valley are worth it.Guest review byHeatherAustralia - 10.0

Mount Cook Village is a great location if you are planning to do some walks in the area. We did the Hooker Valley Track, Sealy Tarn Track, and the Tasman Glacier View after which we were exhausted and travelling to another location would have been a bit much. Staying at the village was the best decision. At night you can travel slightly out to get the most exceptional views of stars and in the morning you wake up to unbelievably beautiful views of mountains. If you are lucky you might just get some snow.Guest review byWaldoNew Zealand - 10.0

The main reason for visiting was the hot pools which did not disappoint. The Forrest also was a highlight with plenty of options for walks. We enjoyed the sculpture walk and even found a fairy house trail nearby. Plenty of places to eat.Guest review byDawnNew Zealand - 10.0

Kaikoura can be overlooked as a destination, but is definitely worth an overnight stay or more, great vibe with restaurants, cafes, shops and first class hotel, Lots of walks, suitable for all levels of fitness from a stroll on the beach to a hike over to South Bay and back. the seal colony, or go whale watching, or just take in the views.Guest review bykarenNew Zealand - 8.0

My husband and I have been coming to Twizel for several years now. My husband comes for the fishing and I for the photography. We have stayed in all seasons. This time it was July middle of winter. Didn't catch any fish but I got some great photos. Had a lovely meal out at Poppies. Would recommend them. We were disappointed with our accommodation, but it didn't ruin our stay in Twizel.Guest review byUdenNew Zealand - 10.0
Opuke Thermal Pools & Spa are a must see, must do.
Opuke Thermal Pools & Spa are a must see, must do. World class! The mountains are beautiful. If you have transport, close by is Ashburton, Lake Coleridge and much more. The information centre in Methven, "I-Hub" is a wealth of information and things to do. Off the beaten track, an alive, looked after, vibrant small town NZ with genuine charm and a smile. My wife and I loved it, we will be back.Guest review byStevenNew Zealand - 10.0

Timaru is a delightful town set in mid Canterbury, and is strategically located so one can enjoy day trips inland. The town itself is prosperous. Caroline Bay is a delight, and has been developed to be a destination for families in particular. There are a range of eateries to cater for different tastes and pockets! An interesting range of cultural attractions worth viewing too.Guest review byMarkNew Zealand - 10.0

Charming little town with an amazing bakery called "A La Baguette". Plenty of other wonderful shops to browse through and find the perfect gift. Full of history re French settlement in 1840 and British settlement in 1850. It's a really fun drive there too - endlessly zigzagging roads that showcase incredible vistas at each tight turns. Lots of walks in the area too for all levels. I visited in September when it was cool but sunny; I'm sure it must be a bustling place to visit in the Summer months.Guest review bySeptembreBebeAustralia - 8.0

Pleasant and friendly country city with easy access and roads. Quality shopping and food outlets. Close to rivers, lake and mountains and handy on why to Dunedin. Two very interesting museum - aviation and old world. The park gardens are superb for walks and picnic.Guest review byNevinNew Zealand
