Beautiful hotel - right on the lake. Very friendly welcome from Filomena, Wendy and Sudhi. Our room was gorgeous! Bright and spacious with a fabulous balcony overlooking the Lake. Nice pool. Breakfast was delicious - we had a table in the window which was stunning and were looked after SO well by lovely Smita and Rina. Thank you all very much for making it such a special time.

Hot thermal heated pool outside our door! Excellent location in small township, quiet, walk to free DOC thermal walk and short drive to lake. Spotlessly clean!!! 10 stars for cleanliness. The new beds were excellent. The family unit had a lot of room Note: The Tokaanu Hotel is an older establishment, but it is in the process of an upgrade, and the price absolutely reflects this. We would absolutely stay again.

Everything was 10/10. Rooms and Reception area were very clean and presentable, breakfast was adequate and the staff were very welcoming and friendly especially Tai who was very helpful as I had a infant with me. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Ofcause the hot pool the most 🙂. The staff was so friendly.. even spoke my language, hehe. The room smelled so nice and was so clean. The bed ws so comfortable. I wish we could stay longer. Will definitely will come again.

People make the difference in everything and our host, Sandra, wasnt the exception. She did her best so that we had a pleasant and comfy stay! When we arrived after a long day on the roads, she offered to upgrade us for a better sleep. Loved her! Her house? A small paradise for any hiker arriving at Turangi! Clean, spacious, easy for socializing, offering a variety of facilities and free parking! Definitely one of our best stays in whole new Zealand!

The bathroom was spacious with a separate large jet tub. The bed was fabulous and entire room spacious. There was even an outdoor patio. This was an unexpected pleasure. The room was spotless and seemed brand new. Great location just a few minutes walk to cafes and restaurants fronting the lake. Christine and Dave were friendly and helpful. This is an exceptional accommodation.

    We arrived early, and on first impressions we thought we had come to the wrong place as it looked really run down, but we were met by the friendly reception person and was immediately checked in and he walked us to our chalet and parking area, which was an amazing surprise. The chalet we were assigned was the middle of 3, with a charming verandah and sliding doors which opened into a small lounge dinning are which had air conditioning/heater and a tv, which led into a small kitchenette with bar fridge microwave kettle and all the cutlery and dishes you would need. next to the kitchen was a compact bathroom with shower toilet and basin, very neat and tidy with toiletries, towels and hand towels. The main bedroom was in front of the kitchen with a queen size very comfortable bed, wardrobe and a set of drawers. Off the bedroom was an amazing spa bath, which we all used. Upstairs from the lounge was an open room with twin beds which were very comfortable. The place was clean and tidy and had everything you would want We could sit outside on the verandah and listen to the babbling brook running along outside while having a glass of wine. Would recommend this place to stay

    The de luxe room was bigger than what we expected. It has a beautiful lake and pool view. The hot pool was nice. You also have your own parking. You have kitchen stuff needed if you would like to cook something. Beds are comfy and all have warming blanket (perfect because of the season). There is a heater in the room besides the heat pump in the lounge. The lounge is spacious. It is actually nice to stay and relax here the whole day.

    Close to the city centre. Clean and tidy. Had everything we needed. Our room was lovely and warm. Beds were comfy. Kids loved the hot outdoor pool although the private spa pools weren’t that warm compared to the swimming pool otherwise we will definitely be back to stay again in the near future.

    The Lake itself was huge which we hadn't expected. There is a well-positioned walking track to take in more views of the lake and other areas of Taupo. Vibrant place. Was easily able to imagine the increase in vibrancy during the upcoming summer seasosn. Good shopping facilities.

    Turangi is a beautiful, scenic location and the people are very welcoming and friendly. We were impressed by the service and choices at the Hydro Cafe, the Flytackle shop and the NZ Post shop. We also enjoyed the Pihanga Gallery showcasing local art and crafts and a delicious Italian meal at Valentinos. It was beautiful in late autumn and we'll visit again.

    The location is lovely, the clean room very tastefully done with an excellent bathroom. Self serve breakfast is provided in the room so no need to pack up and then drive to get food. The check out time of 11am allows for a relaxing morning especially after a long drive like we had. Kinloch is nearby on the lakeside with a general store. Worth a walk and a swim. The quiet side of Lake Taupo.

    Kurutau is a beautiful very peaceful with amazing local and friendly people. We went on the river run fantastic and then a swim in the Lake. The weather is fresh, crisp nice and chill in the evening. My daughter's bach was right on top of Omori breathtaking view of the Lake and we could walk down for a swim. I would highly recommend Kurutau to families, friends and to anyone doing a road trip around New Zealand.

    Would stay at this place again but they need to give better instructions to get in the gate as the code doesn’t work. Don’t tell you that! Also doesn’t tell you no visitors allowed on the site but says that on the info sheet inside. Like you go to see family but they can’t stop in for a cuppa - bit rough!

    Taupo is a family friendly destination with many activities available around the lake. However it can be very busy during popular season such as the Christmas break, so making a plan to visit in advance would be my recommendation. We love Taupo, and it will be somewhere we keep coming back.

    I left Turangi and just came back after 17 years. There's a lot of improvement and a lot busier. I love Turangi and the sorrounding area. I was just dissapointed when I found out that the public toilet is not working.

    The beach is nice but it is always super crowded like the Riveria or something. Very limited facilities in Kinloch with just one general store and a cafe both of which are always busy because of the beach crowds. If staying in Kinloch you need to bring food with you.

    Kuratau's mood changes with the seasons and might be quite vibrantly different in Summer, with many barbecues & outdoor entertaining areas evidently poised ready for finer weather. We ran-away for a quiet, cosy weekend in September and loved it. Cafes and shops are all a drive away in Turangi so we were delighted to find the conviviality of the local winery, where we purchased a nice Rose and enjoyed coffee and pizzas. Next time we'll bring a few more supplies with us, stay a while longer and perhaps mingle more.

    The geothermal sites and great walks very accessible from this area. Hukka falls is amazing. The mud pools and geothermal parks are about 30 minutes from this site. Great choice of water front restaurants to choice from that are 5 minute drive away.
