- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 150 reviewsAmong the many wonderful accomodations on Waiheke Island, we chose Wild Thyme because they gave detailed information about the location and facilities, which made it easy for us to imagine what our stay would be like. AND Wild Thyme was PERFECT in every way! The rooms were well-equipped and comfortable, and were spotlessly clean. The view from the terrace was breathtaking, while the place is located in a convenient area, shops and the beach of Onorea within walking distance. Most of all, Jules and Bruce were great hosts, being attentive and kind. It is all thanks to their welcome, my parents and I truly enjoyed an unforgettable vacation. Another BIG attraction is Jule's Wine Tour! The information is also written on the notebook provided in your room. I highly recommend it to anyone considering staying here. She asked us about our wine preferences in advance and came up with the Perfect plan. We visited Allpress Olive Groves, Tantalus, Man O'War+lunch, Waiheke Gin Distillery and Passage Rock. It may have been partly because it was winter and the wineries were quiet, but Jules arranged with the winery staff to grant our selfish request to try wines(bubbles!) that were not on the regular tasting menu! She even arranged for us to taste limited edition gin at the distillery. She took us to hard-to-reach places in the east and south of the island, such as ManO'War and Passage Rock, where we enjoyed not only the drinks but also the charms of the island as a whole. It's only been a week since I returned home, but I already feel a strong desire to go back.Guest review byKATSURAJapan
- From US$940.85 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 49 reviewsThis is an outstanding luxury property, one of the best in the country. The staff provide the highest level of service, the breakfast and evening canapés/drinks are excellent and the evening dinner superb (extra cost but worth it). However the best part comes from the views from the terrace and pool as well as from the large well appointed room and the large jacuzzi. It is expensive but stay here if you can.Guest review byIanAustralia

Lovely little town with quite a few shops an lots of good spots to eat. The little gelato shop at the top of the hill is great and Oyster Inn a highlight. the island grocery shop has great bread and other food as well as coffee and some take away items.Guest review byCarolynAustralia - 8.0

Probably not a popular destination compared to others on the island, suited us though. Good range of shops. The Woolworths supermarket was a bonus as far as buying groceries for the motel room. The RSA is a friendly destination, and provided takeaway meals for the weary traveller to take back to their motel. Some nice fashion shops worth a look too. A minor hassle was the amount of road noise heard in the motel room (probably sounded louder with the motel being situated uphill a short distance from the road). Not a problem at night.Guest review byPatriciaNew Zealand - 10.0
Sensational location on the cliff.
Sensational location on the cliff. Everything very clean and all necessary things sufficiently available. The beds are good, very nicely furnished. Thanks to the host for the helpful tips. We were there at the beginning of April and it was not hot. In real summer it can heat up a lot as there are many windows. There is a mobile cooling unit in the living room (with a hose to the outside when the window is open. In the bedrooms only fan. We would stay there again outside the hot season.Guest review byAnonymous - 6.0

The villa had an amazing view but would suggest just booking a Waiheke Island Resort room direct, where you would pay less than half the nightly fee for similar villa and have FULL use of their facilities. These included a swimming pool, Spa pool and mini golf.Guest review byStephanieNew Zealand - 10.0

Very private location and the two Units are away from any other houses, etc. Very quiet and peaceful. Spotless too! Parking was 25 feet from the front door. Had a wonderful lunch at Mudbrick Winery and another at The Oyster Inn in Oneroa.Guest review byJenniferUnited States - 10.0

Close to regular buses going to Onetangi and other direction to Oneroa and ferry. Ostend has seating’up town’, shade under sail with tables and grass under foot, big interesting Saturday market, large RSA,Woolworths supermarket, clothing shop and interesting boutique style gift shop, several more and a petrol station and eating out places. It’s pleasant walking around paths off road, the odd local has put a seating bench outside front gate for the public- beautiful views of sea.Easy short walk to The Causeway and moored old quaint boats. Our family group came for family wedding, stayed at Waiheke Motel in four studios, Ostend.Awesome.Guest review byGabrielNew Zealand - 8.0

You get exactly what is shown and described. Wake up with a great ocean view, great deck to relax on, neat simple room and perfect for 2 people. Man o War, Charlie Farlie, 372, and Cable Bay were excellent , The bus was a bit confusing at first but we worked it out and it became simple.Guest review byCraigerNew Zealand - 10.0

The perfect place to chill out by grabbing a book to read without any distractions. There were plenty of walking tracks to explore the environment whilst experiencing the local wild life and beaches. Cooking at the cottage was our preferred option as nothing can beat a home cooked meal. This is a location I will certainly look forward to returning to.Guest review byIan VaeteruNew Zealand
