- From US$130.55 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 6,850 reviewsInitially I booked an internal room, but found out later that these don't have a window, since the hotel wasn't full I got a good deal on upgrading to a city view room luckily, I was very happy with that, since I had to do some remote working from my hotel room. The city room view felt very luxurious and the view was great. The location was perfect as well, in the city center around a lot of good food places.Guest review byRobinNetherlands
- From US$101.34 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 2,349 reviewsThere was a lot to love about the Apollo Lodge. Very affordable. The location was great, so close to every choice of food and entertainment. And the parking was free! The room was warm, clean and spacious, the bathroom looked recently renovated. The beds were so comfortable, the best I've slept in for some time at a motel.Guest review byLLou99Australia

Recommend getting a snapper card for ease of travel.
Recommend getting a snapper card for ease of travel. Initially $10 but providers cheaper fares on public transport. Utilise the metlink app to find nearest bus stop, timetables, trip planning etc. Very useful. Makes getting out of the city to visit much easier. Live tracking. Highly recommend these 2 essentials. I would recommend a behind the scenes walking tour of the Opera House and St James Theatre - my highlight on this trip. Wellington is a easy walking city. Catch the bus to Mt Victoria for the stunning views then walk down to Oriental Bay, the zoo or other walking trails. There are plenty of fine eating places. Most have menus on the windows. There are also food trucks and indoor food markets. It is very vibrant. The water front on a clear sunny place is the tops. Cant say no to the Cable car and a walk through the botanical gardens. This city offers a lot for solo travellers with a wide range of activities that be free.Guest review byJohn - 2.0
We left straight away and did not stay.
We left straight away and did not stay. The driveway was completely dangerous, we got stuck half way up and had to walk back down to the bottom to find help. There was no way we could have been able to come and go as needed. The house was also freezing. We contacted to say it was dangerous and unsuitable and would be leaving straight away and got a notification the message had been read but received no reply.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0
It's the ideal getaway for a short vacation.
It's the ideal getaway for a short vacation. There are numerous short walks and dining options. Henley Lake and the Millennium Reserve are particular favourites and for a longer trip Castlepoint is hard to beat.Guest review byAndyNew Zealand - 6.0
Everything within walking distance.
Everything within walking distance. However there's NO pedestrian crossings from the motel side of the road! I'm a bit slow with bad hips and I was taking my life into my hands to get across to the mall lol. Great little cafe called "Local Authority" under the council building next to the gym! Fantastic coffee and lovely staff!Guest review byChrisNew Zealand - 10.0

All in all it was a very good experience staying and I would stay there again. The unit was nice and clean and the staff were very welcoming. The local Indian restaurant is the best Indian food I have ever had and the service was exceptional not to mention that the prices are very reasonable. We tried to get into the Thai but it was fully booked. We went to another restaurant down by the beach which was upstairs but it was so noisy that it was to hard to hear. We were down for a funeral and had a car so very easy to get around the area.Guest review byGinaNew Zealand - 10.0
Greytown is so close to many places of interest.
Greytown is so close to many places of interest. As a township it has everything required for a stay. Beautifully preserved in heritage style. Very friendly, helpful locals. The Cobblestone Museum is a must to see. Central to other interesting wee townships and a stunning scenic drive to Castlepoint which is a must see and explore. The best burgers at the local store. 😋 would love to return to visit everything we didn't have time for. I must say EXCELLENT restaurants and takeaways. Missed a laundromat but one in Martinborough, Carterton.Guest review byLizNew Zealand - 6.0

There is no Uber, only their local Taxi, which makes getting around without a car quite difficult They do have a lot of Beaches and Reserves close by, and when I stayed at the White House up the hill, I had an epic view with the best Sunset.Guest review byClliffdog01New Zealand - 8.0

Great place. The beach and surrounds have much to offer. For a low key activity go to Nga Manu. Relaxing and informative! Watch the eels being fed and attempt to see a nesting kiwi. We did, but not much action to see. If you like nature, just go.Guest review byIvan & SharynAustralia
