Still a residential area despite some tourist accommodation. Lots of small cafes very close by, some traditional, some trendy. You'll be close to the Puppet Museum and a 10m walk away from the excellent Museu de Arte Antinguo, where there's a beautiful riverside garden and cafe. It's a 15 to 20 minutes walk in the other direction to the central Praca do Commercio. If you don't like walking, catch a tram or an Uber. Inside, the studio apartment is a bright, well designed space on the ground floor. The kitchen is well equipped and we very much appreciated the washing machine. Shower gel, cleaning products etc all provided, which made for an easy stay. There's a spacious cupboard which is big enough for those of us who don't travel light! We would certainly come back to this apartment if it was available. We enjoyed everything about our stay, although we did notice that the indoor pool is only accessible to kids from 9:00-11:00 and 15:00-19:00. Aside from that, everything was fantastic! A vibrant city with lots to see and do. We mainly ate close to our apartment in Belem /Ajuda - Andorinhas - brilliant fish stew; Mestrias - excellent service; A Horta - stunning location and views; and Augusto Lisboa - amazing breakfasts! We bought a Navigante card and used buses, a tram and the train - we were so impressed by the transport options. We took a day trip with Buendia to Sintra which was very efficiently organised and we had a lovely guide. A sunset boat tour run by Rent-a-Boat was the highlight of our trip - amazing views and, again, a lovely guide. We also took a tuk-tuk tour to see Alfama and some brilliant viewing spots. Estoril is ideal for singles, couples and families who want...
Estoril is ideal for singles, couples and families who want a relaxing break away. There are plenty of hotels, bars, cafes and restaurants but there isn’t a specific area or ‘strip’ of these, they are just dotted around. The casino and its garden are a dominant and attractive focal point so there are a few places near to it. There’s Portuguese food, of course, but also Italian, Chinese, Indian and Japanese. You can get fish and seafood dishes of any sort but there’s also lots of steak on offer. Prices are very reasonable. Some people travel in and out of the town specifically and solely to use the beach by day or the casino by night, some to attend events at the glamorous looking fort on the beach, so the town isn’t dead but it can feel quiet at certain times. It’s definitely a chilled out place to stay in. There are only a few local shops for groceries and not really any souvenir shops. In my opinion, it has more of a local, residential vibe and isn’t touristy. For a change of scene, by train Cascais is just a 5 minute ride away or Lisbon is about 40 minutes away. It’s great to visit either and then escape the crowds by returning to Estoril! There is currently a replacement bus service in operation after 9pm (not sure how easy that is to use) but at other times the trains are very frequent and inexpensive.Guest review byPaulaUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Oeiras is a suburb of Lisbon, so not overwhelmed by tourists. We found some great places to eat that were appreciative of our custom. There was a fantastic vegan restaurant just outside the town centre (Alma Veg). Prices have gone up a lot in restaurants and cafés, and most of the time, the quality of the food and service doesn't justify it. The staff at Goa Square were friendly, helpful, and always available with recommendations. The rooms themselves were spotless and well-maintained, making for a comfortable stay. Plus, the location in Amadora is great for exploring Lisbon. There are plenty of sights nearby, and it's easy to get around.
