Sintra is the place to see palaces in Portugal.
Sintra is the place to see palaces in Portugal. The city is set up to accommodate tourists in this pursuit. However, the city is overrun with tourists so temper your expectations about how much you can see as you're fighting crowds everywhere you go.Guest review byGwenUnited States - 10.0
Good beaches and amenities within walking distance.
Good beaches and amenities within walking distance. Handy to Sintra, surrounding areas and Lisbon, particularly if you have a car, but public transport options were available too. Colares was relatively quiet compared to Sintra and it was great to escape the hustle and bustle. It a beautiful location, set amongst the tress and tends to be a little cooler than Lisbon, so was a very comfortable temperature, even in the height of summer.Guest review byStruanNew Zealand - 10.0

Terrugem is a great base if you have a car, with Cascais...
Terrugem is a great base if you have a car, with Cascais just 25 minutes away, Lisbon 30 minutes, and Sintra only 20 minutes. For those without a car, Bolt taxis are very affordable and easy to use. Nazaré is about 1.5 hours away, and on the way, it is well worth stopping at Óbidos, which is a beautiful historic town. A general note about Portugal: the people are very friendly and welcoming. Driving here was also a pleasure – roads were good, traffic was manageable, and drivers were respectful of the rules.Guest review byJeegrMalta - 8.0

The biggest disappointment was purchasing an all day pass for two to ride the buses. We were out waiting for the bus early to get to our scheduled time at Pena and two buses stopped but would not make room for just the two of us to get on (no one else was at the stop). It was raining and we ended up having to hike up to Pena in a hurry to get to our time slot. I am still trying to get my purchase refunded as we were never able to ride the bus.Guest review byDaryl and SusanUnited States - 10.0
This location was great.
This location was great. You can choose to stay in the town and enjoy the beach, restaurants, etc or venture to other nearby attractions like Praia Grande & Arribas Saltwater Pool, Azenhas do Mar pool, or take the trolly (or drive) to Sintra and other towns in the area. My young kids and I enjoyed going to the beach around sunset/low tide to walk the beach, enjoy the small pools of water, etc.Guest review byCatCaul89United States - 10.0

Thank you to Katarina and her husband for the cosy accommodation! All the amenities are in the house. This is a great place for a quiet holiday. Nearby are the historical sites in Sintra, the Atlantic coast, great seafood restaurants. I recommend this place for an unforgettable holiday.Guest review byVadymUkraine - 10.0

Of course we toured Sintra Palace, late afternoon, less crowded, we bought our tickets online before the trip. We tok an UBER to entrance then paid for transfer for bus to take us up the mountain. Tried UBER on way back but they were tied up, they had quite a few drivers seeing if we needed a ride, we bargained with a nice gentleman who spoke good English, paid 15.00 for him to bring 4 of us down to Sintra center. Its definitely too hard to walk up mountain and down unless you are an active hiker. We ate at DIZTINTO wine restaurant and had wonderful dinner and wine with great servers! Wish we had extra day in Sintra!Guest review byCherylUnited States
