I loved Severin's Fortress, it was such an amazing find and I could have stayed all day. The city itself is pedestrian friendly with a lot of options for eating. The weather wasn't great and the fountains weren't on but that's about the only bad thing I could say about the stay.Guest review byNomadRomania - 8.0

I recommend hiking the "Ciucarul Mare" track and doing a bicycle tour along the Danube river, starting in the village of Eselnita and cover the most spectaculous part by going (at least) as far as Dubova.Guest review byHelmutRomania - 8.0

A Danube River gulf between Big Boilers and Small Boilers, a part of river navigable only in the last 70-80 years. Before 1970s here were the Danube's Thresholds, similar to Nile Cataracts. Now this area is 100-200 meters wide with epic landscapes. One side is Serbia and another is Romania. The village of Dubova is like 200 houses, some along the gulf shore but the old village is uphill.Guest review byEugenRomania - 10.0
A nice not-so-little village along the Danube.
A nice not-so-little village along the Danube. Many hosting and dining opportunities. Both boat trips on the Danube as well as by car along the Danube are possible and rewarding. Serbia can be visited with ID card only, a nice surprise.Guest review byLiviuRomania - 8.0

The only thing to be seen in this city is the lake, and a boat trip on the Danube. There is nothing else to do in the city, no activities, no bars, many restaurants were closed, the buildings are old and not renovated with a great lack of facilities. The view of the city is sad.Guest review byC.CrissRomania - 10.0
The views speak for themselves once you're there.
The views speak for themselves once you're there. The only let down for me is that the nearest supermarket and transport links are in Orsova about 20km away. As a foreign visitor to Romania, It's impractical to get there unless you hire a car and let it sit idle in the hotel car park for the days you are there or pay for a taxi from the train station and stock up before you get to Dubova!!Guest review byLord StephenUnited Kingdom - 8.0

I went in the off season when almost everything was closed. So no restaurants, and no food shops in walking distance (come prepared) and very little accommodation open (I recommend Serenity; Iuliana is the perfect host). But if you like an amazing river view coupled with peace and tranquility I definitely recommend a winter visit.Guest review bySE6KJUnited Kingdom - 8.0

It is a border town with all the problems that come with that. I cycled from Serbia and there was a shocking amount of dead dogs on the road. Then, terribly, there were young girls working as sex workers on the first off ramp. Just shocking. The Romanian Government has to help these people. It was so sad to see them.Guest review byNealAustralia - 10.0
Great view of the Danube.
Great view of the Danube. Endless possibilities of boat tours on the lake with lot to see. Beautiful park in the town center. Beautiful monasteries near by (St. Anna and Vodite). Short ride away from Drobeta Turnu Severin on one side and Baile Herculane on the other with a lot more amazing places to see. Just a perfect place for rest from the city rowd.Guest review byBojanSerbia
