- From US$79.59 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.0Good - What previous guests thought, 368 reviewsI was pleasantly surprised with my stay at Hotel Domogled. It was my first time in Baile Herculane, and I was looking for a quiet, restful place. Hotel Domogled did not disappoint. A lot of the clientele is there to take advantage of the various balneotherapy procedures performed in the onsite clinic. There's also a swimming pool open to all the hotel guests. I had a double room with a balcony on the 4th floor with a gorgeous view of the park in front, flanked by mountains. The room was newly furnished, luminous, quiet, and very clean. The bathroom was in good working order, clean, and big enough not to feel crammed. There is a buffet restaurant on the premises where breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served. The menu is well selected (mostly Romanian dishes), there is plenty of variety (at least three choices of soups, meats, and side dishes), and the quality of the food is consistently good. My room included breakfast, but after trying their lunch menu once, I had most of my lunches in there, paying separately. Try it once. You might be coming back. The atmosphere is quiet; no loud music, no loud guests, no parties at midnight. The personnel both in the restaurant and at reception are friendly, attentive, polite, and patient.Guest review byAntonioSwitzerland
- From US$97.39 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,928 reviewsWe had a wonderful four-night stay at the Diana resort. Our room was spacious and clean, and we had everything we needed - including a balcony with a beautiful view of the mountains around Herculane. The hotel has two restaurants which are beautiful, but we only had breakfast there so we cannot judge the dinner or lunch menue. Breakfast was plentiful and offered a varied selection. The buffet was always filled up quickly, the staff always cleared the tables quickly and efficiently. Everyone was very friendly. Both pools (inside and outside pools with thermal water) are very nice. The hotel also has a spa area. We loved the sun terraces and the spa and pool area after a long day of hiking and walking. From the pool you can enjoy a wonderful view of the mountains. The hotel provides bathrobes and towels for the spa/pool.Guest review byMartinaGermany

The view of the mountains is beautiful and the history associated with this place. The Apollo bath museum, the statue of Hercules and the Casino are nice places to visit. It is worth taking a short trip to Orsova (18 km) and see the impressive sights of The boilers of the Danube and the sculpture of Decebalus -king of Dacians- carved in the mountain rockGuest review byCarmenCanada - 8.0

Nice spot to just spend a couple of nights and explore the mountaineous surroundings. Oh, and eat. There are a few top rated restaurants which you should not miss. Resita has a pretty high supply of sea food, unexpectadly.Guest review byAndreeaRomania - 6.0

Depressing deserted village almost in ruins, at the end of a horrible patch of road that looked and felt as if it had been bombed. No local restaurant open to guests, the handfull of B&Bs serving only their inhouse guests. We are not usually picky, but this was the most terrible destination we've ever been. If you want to visit the beautiful Nera and the canion, go to Sasca Română !Guest review byIrina Ana TRomania - 8.0

The town itself doesn't offer much, except for the decadence of a glorious past. Which is quite touching, at least for me. But the hiking trails around the town and the valley are amazing. This is actually the main attraction of the area, that worth every effort.Guest review byMirceaAMRomania - 10.0
Go see the viaduct who pass through the city.
Go see the viaduct who pass through the city. Also the coin museum and the oldest mountain pharmacy. Check the City Hall . It has a woman architect. Walk on the main road. The houses are beautiful even if they are not restored. Visit the train station. it is one of the oldest in Romania We couldn't see the theater. But I would go a second time in Oravita for it.Guest review byCrina GolgotRomania - 10.0
Lots of well-marked hiking trails at the start.
Lots of well-marked hiking trails at the start. It is not clearly marked where it is best to reach the pedestrian paths by car. In addition to walking, I recommend a visit to the Nera Monastery and the Kalugara Monastery.Guest review byTamaraSerbia - 6.0
This is a hidden gem - or could be.
This is a hidden gem - or could be. The old town is absolutely beautiful and the setting is stunning. Sadly, not a lot of restoration has been completed yet - but it is happening. The city centre, which is about 5 minutes drive south of the spa town is over-priced and very shabby. This is not your upmarket tourist town whatsoever. However, the setting, between the mountains is spectacular and you can see the potential. The town suffers from poor sewerage treatment, the river is lined with plastic and construction rubbish, and the guide maps and signage are woefully inadequate. There is major work being done on the road through the town and mountains, and some great restoration happening in the spa town. I would love to return in a year or two to see the positive changes. This should be one of the most beautiful tourist spots in Europe.Guest review byRichardSerbia
