Great accomodation, very reccomended. Arrived by car : there is a private garage in front of the Hotel with a specific tariff for hotel guests; there is also a public open-air parking in the nearby which is cheaper (I used EasyPark app to pay). Perfect room and private bathroom. Great buffet at breakfast, and also the dinner (included in the room price) was great.

Nice location in the city centre near the train station. Got the impression it was an old hotel, but with modern facilities. Nice breakfast, and the dinner buffet, which in my case was included, was really good (the bad thing was that it would be a waste having dinner at some of the nice restaurants in the neighbourhood). Plus for having breakfast from 07.00 in the weekends.

    Honestly, I didn't expect much from the dated and unremarkable exterior, but we quickly found that you can't judge a book by its cover: This is one of the best mid-priced hotels I've stayed in. The stylish, cozy interior, plentiful amenities, delicious breakfast, special accommodations for pets and children, and beautiful Klarälven setting of this Scandic places it among the top-tier. In my experience, this hotel is superior to some of the fancier ones in the center of the city. On thing that really sets Scandic hotels apart, generally, is the breakfast: we very much appreciated the fresh-cut fruit and melons, diverse yogurt selection, Swedish pancakes, and classic (but unusual) things like nyponsoppa. Another is the fabulous family-rooms (with fold-down children's bunkbeds). And the thoughtful accommodation for pets, complete with a bed, bowl, and even treats. Scandic gets it for families on the road!

    We checked in very late, reception works until 21.00, and we came around 23.00, but there was no problem getting into the hotel and into our room. The receptionist called to ask when we were coming and gave us instructions on how to get into our room. The room was clean and nice. In the room were water boiler, cups and some packs with coffee 🥰🥰 loved it after a long trip! Also there were a small fridge, hair dryer and air conditioning fans, which were very useful because it was very warm that night and the next day. We were on the third floor, the view was nice through the windows. 😊👌🏻 We had a really good and delicious breakfast! 😋 Outside the hotel was a huge statue of a troll and we took nice pictures 📸

    We were on our way to Sälen and needed a stop. We were met by a very kind and professional staff. The rooms were spacious, clean and we had a nice view of a lake nearby. In the evening we had a dinner at the restaurant and the food and service were excellent. We had to leave before the serving of breakfast. Then the staff made some sandwiches to us for the early morning travel.

    The hotel was perfect. I especially enjoyed the location. Set back from the road so that there was no noise, next to a forest, where you could walk and the lake was about 200m away walking through the forest. Nearby was an Italian restaurant, a little pricey, but I ate there twice, the pasta was among the best Italian I've ever had. The town itself is delightful.

    We travelled with a large family and this place exceeded all our expectations. The cabin we booked was very nice, the communication with the staff very seamless. Value for money very good. Nice lake nearby where you can take a walk and swim. The place had plenty of attractions for the kids - playground, a very big jumping arena, adventure track etc.

    The Lars Lerin art gallery has beautiful paintings of Swedish landscapes by him. Boat trips from Innre Hamn (Inner Harbour) take you on trips out to islands and around town on the river for the price of a bus fare. Only in the summer months though. Walk along the river for beautiful views, see the old church, town hall etc. Plenty of cafes and restaurants especially around the town square. Have a coffee on the Stadshotell roof terrace with lovely views across the river.

    Sunne is at the heart of an area where you can hike in summer and ski in winter. But also a center for those with cultural interest. 20 min away is Mårbacka, the property of Selma Lagerlöf, Alma Löw art museum and about 30 min away you have Ransäter with the homes of former Swedish prime minister Tage Erlander and Poet and author of 19th centurary Erik Gustaf Geijer. In the summer you can enjoy Västanå Theater, 10 min from Sunne city center

    Kristinehamn has an interesting history going back to the mid 1500ers. So a meander around the historic centre of town is recommended. Defo a visit to Picasso's Sculpture! 👍 👍 and Kristinehamn Konstmuseum 👍. We only stayed 2 nights. Plenty more to do if you're in to nature, like boattrips, canoeing, nature walks. For those with interest for more historic facts I'm sure the History museum, Kristinehamn Historiska is worth a visit.

    Our stay in Sweden left the best impression. Although we didn’t meet the hosts in person, we felt very welcomed – everything was perfectly prepared for our arrival. The cottage was extremely tidy, cozy, and equipped with all the necessary amenities, so from the very first moment, we felt at home. The surrounding nature was simply enchanting, providing a sense of peace and relaxation. We are glad we chose this place and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful retreat in nature.

    The place is nice, especially for swimming and kayaking, beautiful lake. However we were disappointed by luck of working swimming pool, wifi and tv. All three were in the offer and we even especially checked the availability of the pool. And when we complained during our stay no reaction for six days when we started the mediation procedure via booking. So big potential of the place but also big disappointment for us.

    Nice little town with charming older buildings. My stay was to short so I didn't do more than walked around a few blocks, but I'd like to get back and try some of the restaurants och visit the small stores.

    Second visit to Karlstad and both times have been too short. There is a lot to see, especially around the cultural area, including the Värmlands Museum and Sandgrund Lars Lerin. And pleasant strolls along the river and canals.

    Lovely Swedish house in the woods, peace and quiet place for slow-life holidays. We had a great white christmas stay for our family of 5. A little surprice with the water quality in the tap, would be great to know to buy drinking water in advance. The house has everything you need and more. The host was responsive and very helpful, we got all extras we asked for and very flexible with check-in/check out.

    Karlstad is the biggest little city in Sweden and a joy to visit. What other city with <100,000 population even has its own opera house and cathedral? The lakeside setting where Klarälven meets Lake Vänern is gorgeous. There's lots to see and do within the city, even as it is very human-sized and walkable.

    Very rural and quiet area, nice small town, lovely villages around. Good access, excellent roads. Commuter rail running frequently from Karlstad. A lot of moose and deer in the deep forests around. Try the small forest gravel roads (mostly very good) to discover them but be aware on main roads as well. "Älgs" are very big, we saw a lot beside roads (especially near Norwegian borders). A lot of lakes with swimming possibilities in summer, signed beaches. Got in Oktober suddenly the first snow after warm days. Autumn is very beautiful. It is an area for nature lovers, nothing for party scene, even you find some restaurants and shopping centers. Keep the speed limit (always signed) in mind, a lot of automatic speed cameras - high fines.
