Next to a beautiful river, in the middle of nature - we fell asleep to the sounds of the waterfall.
The hosts were lovely, gave us a heartfelt welcome and took care of all our needs. They are part of the taiwanese indigenous people called Atayal, and love music.
The room was spacious and comfortable.

By far the nicest accommodation we stayed in during our trip to Taiwan. The historical house in a beautiful part of Daxi has been lovingly and thoughtfully modernised by the hosts. Wonderfully comfortable in every way.
The lovely lady who hosts the home stay is extremely kind and generous. She made sure we had everything we needed and is full of great tips and information about Daxi.
Daxi itself is definitely worth a visit - it’s an architecturally beautiful and fascinating place to wander.

The scenery is beautiful but the traffic is very bad on weekends. Often the road becomes stuck with traffic on one lanes leading to queues of maybe 1 hour extra so be prepared. No toilets or petrol stations on the way up the mountain, windy roads and kids get car sick.
But, once there, the air is fresh, the scenery is beautiful. Try to go during the week.
Try to walk the national park and do the trail near visitor center, though tunnel tour only opens 25 Aug 2023
