Lots to like. Clean, comfortable. We put our family of 7 in a room that sleeps 8. Shared bathroom was super clean with private stalls and toilets. They also had a dog hotel for around $30 a night for the pooch. Had a fully stocked kitchen that we did not use but looked amazing.

We booked this hotel because my family want to take a holiday to visit Takoro National Park while in Taiwan. We arrived and departed on the train and was able to arrange the staff to drive us between the train station and the hotel since we are a family of 5. The complementary breakfasts were great with interesting and delicious food and good selection for everyone in the family. There were also complementary drinks and crackers during the day after breakfast which was great after a day of exploring the national park. The room was clean and had a great view of the ocean. The complementary washing machine and dryer was really useful because we have small children which tend to be messy. We also tried the Sunrise restaurant attached to the hotel the last night and the food quality was very high. The staffs were really friendly and helpful and even the two cats on the premise were very friendly. We would miss the breakfasts on the deck with the cats and the great food for years to come.

Everything. The staff in the front desk are always willing to help. I met a staff at a stand serving Tainan’s steam rice was superb, who served the dish and made a brief introduction to me. She was doing a great job.

    Look no further! This B&B is super clean, excellent location, very modern, delicious breakfast, and amazing views from the rooms of either the mountains or the ocean. It’s owned by a young woman who was so helpful! She has free bikes to use and gave me excellent recommendations for restaurants, cycling, and helped me figure out transportation to Taroko Gorge and to Taipei. She even gave me a departing present of local delicacies. And bonus, there’s a sweet resident Shiba Inu. This place is a gem!

    Sleepy scenic town with some really cool cafes and restaurants. Airy , non crowded night market with lots of games and options for food. Even without Taroko fully open after the earthquake , Hualien is a great stop over for the scenic East Coast of Taiwan.

    It's a tiny town with fewer restaurants to choose from...

    It's a tiny town with fewer restaurants to choose from comparing to HuaLiang which is 18KM south of XinCheng. But, this town is also 18 KM closer to Taroko National Park. I highly recommend "Memories Homestay" for your overnight accommodation. It has the best CP value.

    This is my second visit to Hualien City.

    This is my second visit to Hualien City. It was good to get to know the area better. Although I spent the majority of my time at Dong Awa University, I was able to visit the Stone Museum and the Slow Food centre.

    Our interest was in travelling up the Taroko Gorge.

    Our interest was in travelling up the Taroko Gorge. Although spectacular, the access limitations imposed since the last major earthquake made our travel almost a non-event. Be aware, the visitor centre is closed, 2nd Monday each month, grrr.
