We stayed in Great Barrington to attend a performance at the Mahaiwe. It was leaf-peeping season, so we stayed two nights. It was a pleasure to drive around the countryside. We had breakfast both days at Marketplace Kitchen Table, right across the street from our motel. On Saturday evening we ate at The Well. This is a quiet corner of the Berkshires.
This is a quiet corner of the Berkshires. If you like quiet roads, and good, uncrowded options for walking and hiking, it could be for you. Note: there are only a couple of options for dining in the area. And one of them is only open weekends. You will have to drive about 30 miles to Sheffield or Great Barrington for gas, a major drugstore, etc. Totally surprised there's not a better general store in the area.
