The Pictured Rocks tour was fabulous. We gained an hour getting there the night before from where we live. We tried to get something to eat in town at 8:00p.m (which was 7:00 for us) and nothing was open that said they were on a Thursday before Labor day. Finding a place to eat was absolutely frustrating and had to settle for a fast food burger or a Gas station pizza place.....ugh. Closing kitchens at 8pm seemed out of the norm for us especially in a tourist city. With nothing much else to offer outside of a beautiful landscape we probably would not return anytime soon for something to do and see.Guest review byVaughan - 10.0

Wawa was the top of our trip and we were surprised that despite the small population (3000 people), it is a busy town. We loved the Kinniwabi Pines restaurant near by HWY 17 (a must experience, family run, may need a reservation for a larger group), we enjoyed fresh trout and an Bison stake (delicious!). Our neighbours caught a glimpse of the Northern lights (early morning), and told us about the Sandy beach walks and fantastic nearby trails with falls! For us, this gateway to the North, a nice community, offers fresh air, splendid view of the Trans-Canada Highway, and a sense of the vast "Canadian Spirit" all around! You can also venture from there, 200Km to next town : White River, the home town of the "Winnie the Pooh" bear (yes, Winnie was purchased by Lieutenant Harry Colebourn after WWI and donated to the London (British) zoo all the way from Canada, where the writer (A.A. Superior is quite a nice city.
Superior is quite a nice city. The areas we saw were clean and tidy. It provided us with all the amenities we were looking for. Julie's Family Restaurant was a particularly good place to eat. We were very pleased with the Richard I Bong veteran's museum and the young lady (a junior in high school) who provided the "Heavy Metal" tour. She was very knowledgeable and helpful. There is much to see and do around the area, including Bayfield, the Apostle Islands and Ashland, all within about an hour's drive from Superior.Guest review byJohnUnited States - 10.0

No matter what season you visit Two Harbors and the surrounding North Shores communities, you will find something to see, do, try. There are notable stops along the north shores between Duluth and Grand Marais that we visited during our July 2025 visit. Very beautiful area. Also just a short trip to MI and MN. We did Yooper rock hunting a couple nights at Black River Harbour & Little Girl Point, which was very fun. Lots and lots of waterfall hikes within 50 miles of Ashland. Even though it was rainy when we went, we had a great time. Would definitely recommend taking a Ferry to Madeline island. I would take a vehicle over, its quite a distance to walk or bike around the island. Definitely check out Big Bay Lagoon on Madeline island. Beautiful hike on a board walk around Lake Superior.
