Room was exactly what we needed. clean tidy, accessible to everything. The staff were friendly and helpful. My wife and I enjoyed it so much, that we wished we would have stayed longer, rather than going to Waikiki for the remainder of our trip. Parking was great and spacious. Everything about our stay was exactly what my family wanted. We are already planning our return trip next year, and this time we hope to spend all our time at the Marriot.

This was a fabulous stay and we wouldn't hesitate to return. The property owners live in the basement apartment but are completely unintrusive and extremely friendly. We were grateful for some excellent local tips for great beaches and restaurants. The local area is wonderful; the quiet vibe of Haleiwa almost the complete antithesis of Honolulu/Waikiki which remains eminently accessible by road. Ignore previous reviews about the pool: it's very private, was always spotlessly clean, and was lovely for a refreshing dip after a long day out at the beach or local attractions. There are small air conditioners in every room. They're not super powerful but they're enough to take the edge off for a comfortable night especially in combination with the ceiling fans. House rules and check in instructions were fair and clear, respectively. Highlights for us were the outstanding location, the amazing lanai with ocean views (we saw humpbacks breaching over evening cocktails), and the quiet privacy combined with access to the best that Oahu has to offer.

The location is amazing! It’s few steps away from the beach with jasmines blooming outside your kitchen window. The view is amazing 360 degrees as the other side of the property is facing the mountains. Staying here we really relaxed and felt the island chill vibe. Tike felt slower and we enjoyed every minute of it:)

Phenomenal location and GREAT value, but be ready for a rustic stay in a place that is more like a cabin at a campground with chickens and roosters crowing throughout the night right outside the windows.

We really liked the concept of this type of camping. There are several power banks available, but it's a good idea to bring your own. We really enjoyed our stay.

The property itself is very run down and old needing a lot of love. The construction that was going on was not an issue. The beds were extremely uncomfortable. The ac they speak of is a window unit which no where near reaches past the living room/kitchen and bed. The kitchen was not complete with decent cooking pans. I certainly would not stay here again. The only nice thing about this condo was the beach access.

The north shore has many beach choices. Def less crowded and great for families. Numerous food trucks and outdoor adventures available. Best time was had at the Waimea Falls area, as well as the Polynesian Cultural Center.

Very laid back and chill. NOT Honolulu!! We were actually right near Waimea Bay going to Haleiwa was like going to the big city. Would be happy to visit here again. Beaches superb and not crowded (late April). Lots of activities, most especially swimming with sharks (One Ocean Diving). Some nice walks in the hills, too. Another great nearby option is glider planing (Above and Beyond).

Would like to explore more of the island but not ever stay at the Tavares location again unless major changes are made & compensation for my unfortunate experience due to how unclean the room made me feel super anxious to even sleep in the bed with the linens provided. The local restaurants, beaches & scenery were premiere! Only con of the trip was the Tavares rental property. RENTER'S BEWARE!!!

    Wonderful area!

Wonderful area! Swimming beach (for snorkeling) at Shark's Cove, was cool. Watching surfers and big waves at Pipeline was cool. You can walk to Waimea Bay Beach Park, to see great beach (but too dangerous to swim there in the winter). Very cool people there, at the Foodland, at the food trucks, and in the area. Short drive to Haleiwa to surf and swim, and short drive to Turtle Bay resort to swim and snorkel; both drives are worth it.

    Turtle Bay is great location.

Turtle Bay is great location. Hotel is very quite, no other hotels nearby, just golf courses, beaches and beautiful trails. Rooms are spacious, very well equiped and maintained. Wish we stayed longer than just 3 nights. If you are looking for intimacy, this is the right place to stay.

Haleiwa is a short drive from the property. The beach we visited was very nice, plenty of shade for those who need it. We saw several turtles in the bay and watched the surfers. The town is perfect for strolling thru small shops, art galleries and cafe's.

There are so many beaches in Pupukea, whether you want to surf, snorkel or swim there is a beach for you! The beaches are beautiful and clean. There aren't too many hikes in the area. The Pillbox hike by the elementary school is beautiful! And it's less than 2 miles from Foodland. Foodland has all that you need to eat, but if you want food that you don't have to make there are several food trucks right next door. (If you want more food and shopping options Haleiwa is only a 15 minute ride away - 15 to 25 minutes on the bus) The North Shore is refreshingly undeveloped and almost everything closes by 9pm. It's quiet and beautiful and the laid-back, easy-going pace is perfect for anyone who just wants to relax and refresh.

A remote village on the north shore of Oahu, this area has beautiful weather and is great to see the big wave surfers in the winter. However, the beaches are not particularly swimmable unless you are a great swimmer due to the size of the surf and rip currents. While great for surfing, it is not so great for everyone else. There are few dining options in this area and unless you are willing to drive 20-30 minutes to the closest small town, you will be eating resort food when available or from a food truck. So remote that Domino's won't even deliver. That should say something because people who pay $800+ per night for accommodations don't usually want Domino's pizza. But it was the last resort.
