The staff was friendly always accommodating and very helpful. The pool with the kid friendly part was the icing on the cake for my kids. They went to the pool the evening before and after breakfast the next day. The age requirement was helpful because I could leave my older son with his younger brother. Great that you're a family friendly hotel in a big city, many hotels don't offer this option.

This property was absolutely beautiful. The views were stunning, and our room was exceptional. I was very impressed with the staff and cleanliness of the bed and breakfast. My partner has food allergies, and they were extremely accommodating for him with our breakfast in the morning. My husband and I loved this hotel. We decided to splurge on a room with a hottub and a balcony facing the ocean. After a long, beautiful walk in the beach right in front of the hotel we came back to a good soak in the tub, sat on the balcony to watch the sun go down and then slept very well in the very comfortable bed.

We stayed here from March 3 to March 4. We were met at the reception by a very nice young man, he advised us where to eat, what to do, was very friendly and helpful. The view from our window was beautiful and sleeping to the sound of the ocean was great. The hot tab was a great addition to the evening.

Initially we were disappointed by Portland - downtown main area was pretty empty and full of people on drugs etc. After going on a coast tour we got tips on best areas and fell in love with it very quickly. It's all about the neighbourhoods. We loved the Rose Garden and the Japanese Garden was stunning (we have been to Japan and my husband lived there so have some comparison). We loved Alberta Arts District, Nob Hill, Powell's City of Books and the Saturday market by the river and farmer's market. We also saw live music in NE area and ate very well wherever we went. Just don't expect it to be a regular city with classic tourist areas or busy downtown.

Astoria is a unique town in a unique location.

Astoria is a unique town in a unique location. I love the architecture of many of the homes in Astoria and the way they are arrayed along hilly streets. The town is fairly compact so attractions are never a long drive away. Ships coming in from the sea to go up the Columbia river or returning to the sea lend interest as you drive or walk around the city. Astoria remains one of my favorite cities in the Pacific Northwest!
