I stayed overnight to catch a show at the Old Globe in Balboa Park. Loved the theater. The park is AMAZING. Restaurants in the area were terrific. The next morning walked the Seven Bridges Trail and saw a lot of San Diego around the park. It was long (over 5 miles) but educational. BUT I RESERVED THE ROOM AGAIN FOR 3 DAYS AND THAT'S WHEN I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE LENGTHS OF TIME YOU COULD STAT THERE. BY THAT TIME I HAD BEEN THERE16 DAYS. SO I WAS PAYING FOR THE 3 DAYS RESERVATION WITH MY BANK CARD IT CAME BACK DECLINED,SO I WAS ALLOWED TO PAY FOR ONE MORE DAY WITH CASH AND TOLD I HAD TO CHECK OUT THE NEXT MORNING. HERITAGE HAS MY MONEY PENDING AND I WAS TOLD I HAVE TO WAIT 31 DAYS+1 BEFORE I GET IT BACK. THE MERCHANT SENT PAPERWORK SAYING PAYMENT FAILED AND THEY WEREN'T TAKING IT. very walkable and even better on a bike , including getting to Coronado island, which I highly recommend. Balboa park is great / one of the best I have visited in any City and also say a 30 min walk from down town. Only down side is the number of street people ! - everywhere from down town to Balboa park.
