I loved downtown Burlington, especially the pedestrian-only street and the selection of stores. We had lunch at Splash on the waterfront and just loved how close it was to the water. We visited the Shelburne museum one day and the Shelburne Farm the next day and found both fascinating and beautiful. I and my 3 friends were just blown away by both places and would highly recommend visiting them if you’re a lover of American art and history.

    Went to Emily's covered bridge.

Went to Emily's covered bridge. On the way back down was spectacular views! Don't forget the gondola ride up Mt. Mansfield as well as the toll road. Getting around was easy as most things were on the main strip. We ate at many places but was sticker shocked on food prices. I don't mind spending but some things were WAY overpriced! All in all it was a fun relaxing trip after getting a room. The first place wasn't accessible so we went across the street and luckily they had a room for us.. Money was refunded for the other place and they apologized.

This was a nice place to stay.

This was a nice place to stay. It was modern, clean, pleasant, and had all the amenities you might need if traveling. It was also close to the highway and easy to find if you don't know the area (like I did not) and wonder if it is convenient - it is.

Winooski is a convenient place to stay based on the ease of driving into Burlington, which only takes 10 minutes. Had a lovely breakfast at Sneakers Bistro and a good lunch at Asian Bistro. The only downside is the frequent noise from aircraft coming in to land at the Burlington airport.

Access to the surrounding area was very good.

Access to the surrounding area was very good. Lack of Restaurants in the local vicinity was very disappointing. Most places to eat were Sandwich, Pub type eateries. We loved Smugglers Gap and the Fall Colors, The Green Mountains also was a relaxing drive to see the Color Changes. We would avoid a First Floor Room a the Motel because they are very noisy when people above you walk around constantly in their room. The Motel could use some upgrades, Carpets, New Tubs, ( ours had been painted ). Good note, The Water in the Shower was extremely warm which felt nice on a chilled evening.

    Awesome city!

Awesome city! Low key friendly atmosphere and proximate to lots of wonderful family fun. From Stowe to Waterbury to the waterfront in Burlington itself we had a wonderful time seeing scenic views of the mountains and breathtaking Lake Champlain, visiting farms, engaging in tastings of syrup, cheese and cider! We milked cows, observed a cider press, and e biked along Lake Champlain. We toured Ben and Jerry's and had samples. Yum. Gondola rides, drives up the mountain as well as a boat ride along Lake Champlain and even a day trip to Ausable Chasm in the Adirondacks of NY state, for hiking and raft ride through the canyon were all marvelous. Such a relaxing atmosphere. Dont miss Vergennes also and go see the dam. Visited Farmer's market on Grand Isle at St Johns also great..check out Phoebe's Lemonade stand and Eighty 9 catering for crepes. Yummy! Not enough room to recommend everything. Just go to Burlington and read the brochures and stop at a visitor center for recommendations. Simply Marvelous.

This hotel was very poorly run and maintained.

This hotel was very poorly run and maintained. When checking in, we were given the opportunity to open another credit card. This is not acceptable. The room that we were given was around and behind the front of the building . We drove over a driveway that was in major need of repair, and we had to park in front of two garbage dumpsters. The electrical plug in the bathroom did not work , and the rug was dusty and didn’t appear vacuumed. The room faced a chain linked fence. We did not feel safe. Yes, we should have requested a room up front. Booking.com should make a visit to the hotel. It does not meet the standards that we have experienced in the other hotels that we have used.

Burlington is a cute city that is experiencing some hard times. Like many cities its size, there is a significant un-homed population which you will undoubtedly see if you spend any time downtown. Our experience was that these people do not bother anyone, and they generally congregate in City Hall park and in the center streets of downtown. There are some areas with a lot of graffiti and blight that it seems the city is working on. That being said, there are some beautiful things to see there, chiefly Lake Champlain, which is the entire west side of town. The waterfront area is full of parks and green spaces and an amazing biking/walking trail that follows the lake pretty much the whole way. There are plenty of great restaurants, breweries and stores in downtown Burlington. The central Church Street Marketplace is beautiful but touristy and is on the expensive side. Don't sleep on all the good stuff in the "suburbs" and townships outside of downtown, including South Burlington (which also counts as East Burlington), North Burlington, and Williston and Winooski. All of these have good shopping, eating and drinking. A short drive North to the Champlain Islands is full of beauty, serenity and more good restaurants, breweries, wineries and natural beaches. Ultimately, Canada is about 1 hour away. A short drive South to the foothills of the Green Mountains is full of covered bridges, farm stores, and hikeable mountains and creeks (check out Mt. Philo, VT's first State Park!). Take a car ferry across the lake to New York from either the North or South end for more adventures.
