Due to the proximity of Big Bend National Park and State Park, the hotel was incredibly silent at night and offered excellent night skies, which resulted in excellent sleep. The Hop On Hop Off was the most helpful. We learned a lot about the history of, cultural diversity, and the people from our retired school teacher Mr O. The customer service of many staff from hotel, restaurants, Hop on busses, and general services was impeccable. They never said go here or there from just directions. They all walked you to an area so you could see exactly where we wanted to go. The Alamo and the laser light show was wonderful. The boat ride too was fun. Austin is a weird city.
Austin is a weird city. Lots to see and do and that makes it worth the trip, but not my kind of place. Too much traffic, cars and people on bikes, scooters and walking. Parking is a big problem and valet is costly. So happy to return to my quiet country life.Guest review byKarenUnited States - 10.0

In September & October, the water is blue.
In September & October, the water is blue. There are alot of good restaurants around and hotels. If you like to fish, you have your choice of some great baitshops. Blvd Seafood on the Seawall is a great place to eat & Rudy & Pico has really good lunch specials. Maceos also has really good lunches. The island has alot of transportation, such as trolleys, uber & lyft. Because Galveston is a island, you will see homeless people. Our trip to Arlington was the first one for us and we enjoyed it tremendously. The visit was to celebrate family day with our granddaughter at the AT&T Field. It was a wonderful experience and one we hope to have for many more years to come. We shopped at the Cowboys Pro Shop, Lulu Lemon, and several other shops along the mall area. We had Brunch @ Lili's, supper at the Lazy Dog, got ice cream at the Cow Tipping Creamery, and barbecue at Hutchins Barbecue. Our final day there we had breakfast at Denny's. Loved El Paso when we lived there thirty years and still like it very much, especially the food. We haven't had Tex-Mex like El Paso Tex-Mex since we left in 1995.
