Situated just a short walk from the center, it’s incredibly convenient for exploring the island. Everything—from the harbor to restaurants and shops—is easily accessible, yet the hotel still offers a peaceful and relaxing environment. The views from the hotel are stunning, especially at sunrise and sunset. Waking up to the sight of the harbor was one of the highlights of my stay. It’s the perfect spot for travelers who want to enjoy both convenience and scenic beauty. Mr. Cane was incredibly nice and is very welcoming. The place is outside of the city center, which allows you to take in real fresh air. The place is clean and has been freshly painted. At night, as the beach is too far, it is possible to go for a swim in the relaxing swimming pool. The balcony is very large and protectd from the heat of the sun and allows one to work on the computer, if need be. Mr. Cane is an excellent billard player, think twice before asking him to play.

    For the second time, we have taken "a moment to breathe" at Paradise Suites. Travelling is hard work and when you're meant to be on holidays and resting, Ha Long is a great place to just stop for a minute. This hotel is not in Ha Long City, it is on the harbour from where the cruises leave. It is exquisitely appointed and offers a fantastic restaurant for dinner. Breakfasts are included in your booking and are a full buffet, with a chef cooking eggs made to order. When you're ready, one of the staff will drive you down to the private infinity pool and private beach, where again chilled drinks and nibbles will be delivered to you. There are very few people staying on this island area and so there is no noise, no rush, no one trying to sell to you, just peace and quiet. The beds are exceptional and the rooms are beautiful with fantastic lighting for all your needs (reading lights and ambient). The staff are wonderful, reception communicate quickly, Phương (F&B coordinator) and the restaurant staff can truly not do enough for you. Take a moment, you won't beat this place.

    Cat Ba Dream Hotel overlooks the waterfront esplanade and the bay of Cat Ba, it is quite majestic. The room is large enough with a big window to capture that majestic view. Bed is large and comfortable for a good deep sleep. I had originally booked a "high floor" but that did not guarantee us a view, so I had to upgrade to get the view, well worth the few extra $s. Booked a cruise and a cheap motor bike and the forward bus journey to Ninh Binh. All good experiences at Cat Ba Dream Hotel.

    Enjoyed Cat Ba, but don’t go on others reviews for accomodation, check out places fully, we changed places twice and would have changed again but decided to stick it out, do not accept a bad room, ask for one which you believe you have paid for and as it was described when you booked it. Don’t book for a weekend or public holiday, the Vietnamese flood the town. We found best value places to eat and drink, cheapest and great food Oasis restaurant, The big man for good western food.

    We planned to stay in Halong for 1 day, on our way to Cat Ba island and planned to stay another day on our way back to Hanoi. Due to rough seas after typhoon Kajiki, we stayed 2 days in Halong. The town is very quiet, many businesses and hotels are closed and it shows what happens to a once busy and thriving place, when the tourists no longer come in their previous numbers. Unfortunately, we will stay the extra day now in Hanoi on our way back.

    Great place for tours/excursions such as the cruises that take place often, or a day trip organised to other areas. Had some lovely restaurants and coffee spots too. However, currently lots of construction taking place in the town so if you had time, I'd say it's worth it for the visit but wouldn't be missing out on loads currently if you planned to go but with no intention of doing the cruises or a tour.

    Did not want to do the hiking in Cat Ba national park,...

    Did not want to do the hiking in Cat Ba national park, however we hired a scooter and this is a great way of seeing a place. Loved taking the cable car to Hai Phong (when travelling back to Hanoi) instead of the ferry. This is is run by Sun World which also runs the cable car in Ha Long.
