Newcastle is a very quiet town but has humoungous potholes on almost every road, which is an inconvenience if you're travelling with a small car. But its absolutely serene with scenic mountain viewsGuest review byClara MphahleleSouth Africa - 10.0

I understand that Ladysmith is an old town ,but ,I was very disturbed when I saw shacks right in town ,there are other areas in CBD, that were dirty ,in Small towns like Ladysmith ,we are expecting orderly and clean places especially in CBD. Municipality must enforce the by laws. We like to visit small towns .Guest review byLouvie - 8.0

The city is a great stopover on the way to the Drakensberg Mountains (Giants Castle or Champagne Valley) plus it is only a short drive to the Wagendrift Nature reserve and Moor Park. Good town to stock up on supplies before heading to the mountains.Guest review byJeremy PNew Zealand - 4.0

Unfortunately, the roads to Gooderson Natal Spa are terrible, potholes all along the route forcing the trip to be much longer than expected. Do not travel on these roads with cars with lowered suspension and definitely stay off these roads after dusk or in rainy conditions. For the amount of time spent travelling from Jhb to Paulpietersburg, we could have driven to Durban in less time and with far better road conditions. Thankfully we do not have small children as this would have a been an even longer road trip!Guest review byVanashSouth Africa - 10.0

This is a really good game lodge which is very good value for money. Our spacious room had an amazing view and animals often came right past our deck. In the main building food and drink were always available. All three meals were very good with a good choice of food. The staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful. All the grounds were immaculate and the deck in front of the dining room had a view of a watering hole where we saw many animals drinking, including a giraffe. Our ranger, Jonno, ensured we saw four of the big five, leopards are always elusive. Additionally, there was a wide range of antelopes, birds, a hippopotamus and a serval which was a rare sighting.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 4.0

The location of Van Reenen is a) convenient and b) a beautiful part of the world. The scenery is fantastic. The town itself could do with a good lick of paint and a rich and enthusiastic developer of historic buildings. There are a couple of very pretty house which are well looked after. Across the road from the petrol station is "The littlest Church" where we stop for breakfast. Fabulous - both the church, view and breakfast.Guest review bymariaSouth Africa - 6.0

We enjoyed the company of our tour guides who took us to Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift and explained the battles that took place. Mphiwa Ntanzi and Douglas Rattray were so informative that it felt as if you were reliving what had transpired so many decades ago. Breakfast, Lunch, Tea and Dinner were at Fugitive's Drift. So much food, that a person was putting on weight :) A standard vehicle can get you around Rorke's Drift, but it would be better if a person had a 4x4.Guest review byAngelaSouth Africa - 8.0
