- From US$84.53 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 408 reviewsThis is a beautiful place, nicely remote from the real world! The food was excellent - great quality, taste and value. Excellent service from all we encountered. We’d recommend visitors go on the nature drive… so much to learn about the beautiful Karoo. Great to be escorted by such an enthusiastic guide! Another highlight was the pool - in such beautiful surrounds, and made even more magical by the evening visit of the zebra and various bucks to graze. We’d love to return!Guest review byClaireUnited Kingdom
- From US$104.22 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 3,068 reviewsEverything went well from checkin to ambience to room amenities and facilities in the property. The ostrich farm was real hit and so is the room, ambience , friendly dogs, great location and secured and safe environment. Congo cave, ostrich farm and Cango wildlife ranch was the great hit! Would love to come back and spend more time. And not to mention the great friendly attitude of the property manager. Ashish, SingaporeGuest review byAshishPortugal
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 483 reviewsPerfect Safari experience on the private game reserve. We nearly saw all of the Big 5 and many other animals. The animals are in general very relaxed because Sanbona is a non profit organization and therefore the pressure on the animals is held on a low level with limited people and trucks. The ranger was well educated and taught us many interesting things. The tented lodge was very beautiful. Highly recommendable!Guest review bygeri85Austria
- From US$254.76 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 92 reviewsWe liked everything about our stay. It is an excellent place to relax for a weekend away. Great views of Zebra and giraffe from our stoep. Clean, comfortable stay. Owners were great hosts and went out of their way to let us feel at home. Friendly and warm atmosphere with good food. Decorations on tables were also pretty. Will definitely return. Highly recommended.Guest review byMariéSouth Africa
- From US$107.11 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 302 reviewsWakening up to the sound of birds, cannot be measured. Then the calmness this place brings to you was exactly what we needed. We had our little encounter with a spider, which was easy to catch and to release. Don't miss the stargazing as it is a view you won't forget. The BBQ on the top of the trees from the DIY was a beautiful experience.Guest review byLaurentLuxembourg

There is so much to do and keep busy.
There is so much to do and keep busy. The Cango Caves - must see. The Cango Ostrich farm, an amazing experience. Then there was the Wild Life Ranch - have to go! Buffelsdrift, amazingly beautiful. The Rust& Vrede waterfalls - please take cash! The Spur with their friendly staff and the newly opened Hennies! Wish we had a few more days. There was also the Suzuki Safaritown Festival and the Boks game was expceptional.Guest review byVan Graan - 8.0
Lovely quiet country village.
Lovely quiet country village. Interesting little shops & great 2nd hand bookshop. Great walks/hikes & excellent restaurants (highly recommend "Mud"). Lots of interesting history.Guest review byAllisonSouth Africa - 6.0

On arrival, we were greeted by overflowing sewers pouring out into the main road. Smelt so bad, we could not go near the liquor store near the main road. Apart from that issue, the rest of the town was great.Guest review byDouglasSouth Africa - 10.0

We should have called the farm manager from Barrydale, because when we arrived at the locked farm gate, we found there was no reception. We couldn't reach him, and it was soon getting dark, so we had to keep driving until we got signal again, which only took five minutes. Wann, the manager, was soon there and opened the gate to paradise for us... remote, behind two other farms, we were able to spend comfortable days in this Karoo resort. Wann was always available, and one evening his wife cooked us a delicious meal. A river, a hot tub, an ice bath, peace and quiet, and an endless sky—what more could you want? This is the place to be for anyone needing a break. For more romance, under the stars, bring candles and reading lamps.Guest review byIsabellaSouth Africa - 10.0

Uniondale was the centre point of our journey distance wise - so convenient . Also we had not been there before so it made an interesting stop over. Scenery was stunning and the road excellent. Hotel built in 1832 (I understand). Uniondale is about 14 kms off main road and entry and exit are through two mountain passes which were most attractive.Guest review byChristopherSouth Africa - 8.0

From the main road it looks like just another dusty deserted Karoo town. What a pleasant surprise on turning off into the little town. We had a superb breakfast at @Stuff and met some interesting locals. The town is experiencing a resurgence and is intersting, well maintained and spotlessly clean.Guest review byRobynSouth Africa - 10.0

Route 62 is a great drive and Barrydale is a convenient distance from Cape Town for a stop, The village is small but has interesting places to visit. Arrive in time to look round and leave the next by lunchtime the next day - that's all the time you need but it's worth taking time to stop and look round. We found it a friendly place and were not pestered by beggars.Guest review byAnonymous
