- From US$213.50 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 315 reviewsOur third visit to this wonderful oasis. We come to see Andre the manager whom we fell in love with on our first visit approx 13 years ago. He was on top form making everyone feel welcome and ensuring everyone was having a relaxing time. The property has a lovely large infinity pool overlooking the ostriches and fields which is so relaxing, there’s also a seating area and a bar which is is great to lounge in after a busy day out exploring. Breakfast is an excellent varied hot and cold buffet and dinner is a delicious three course event with a Braai of a choice of meat, I really recommend the Karoo lamb or the local ostrich. Room super comfortable overlooking the garden and fields with big king bed and lovely soft pillows, I love the decadent ostrich skin headboards that only this area of SA would have and consider normal. large bathroom with big bath and separate shower, also separate loo. Always sad to leave this place. Parking very safe just outside your room, very convenient. Everything spotlessly clean.Guest review bycatherineUnited Kingdom
- From US$1,445.78 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 483 reviewsPerfect Safari experience on the private game reserve. We nearly saw all of the Big 5 and many other animals. The animals are in general very relaxed because Sanbona is a non profit organization and therefore the pressure on the animals is held on a low level with limited people and trucks. The ranger was well educated and taught us many interesting things. The tented lodge was very beautiful. Highly recommendable!Guest review bygeri85Austria
- From US$252.20 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 656 reviewsOur experience was wonderful from start to finish. The room was spacious, comfortable, and beautifully decorated, with lovely views of the farm. Dinner was a highlight — the ostrich bobotie was outstanding, full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive, making us feel truly welcomed. The peaceful setting made it all even more special. Highly recommended!Guest review byViriatoBrazil

It is an excellent place to relax for a weekend away. Great views of Zebra and giraffe from our stoep. Clean, comfortable stay. Owners were great hosts and went out of their way to let us feel at home. Friendly and warm atmosphere with good food. Decorations on tables were also pretty. Will definitely return. Highly recommended.Guest review byMariéSouth Africa
- From US$87.16 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 784 reviewsThe accommodation was clean, neat and well appointed. The breakfast spread was excellent with a big variety to choose from. The restaurant was the cherry on top. It has a lovely atmosphere, and the food was top notch. The ostrich burgers were huge! The location is excellent, not too far from Oudtshoorn and close enough to numerous attractions.Guest review byIanNew Zealand

Lovely quiet country village.
Lovely quiet country village. Interesting little shops & great 2nd hand bookshop. Great walks/hikes & excellent restaurants (highly recommend "Mud"). Lots of interesting history.Guest review byAllisonSouth Africa - 6.0

On arrival, we were greeted by overflowing sewers pouring out into the main road. Smelt so bad, we could not go near the liquor store near the main road. Apart from that issue, the rest of the town was great.Guest review byDouglasSouth Africa - 10.0

We should have called the farm manager from Barrydale, because when we arrived at the locked farm gate, we found there was no reception. We couldn't reach him, and it was soon getting dark, so we had to keep driving until we got signal again, which only took five minutes. Wann, the manager, was soon there and opened the gate to paradise for us... remote, behind two other farms, we were able to spend comfortable days in this Karoo resort. Wann was always available, and one evening his wife cooked us a delicious meal. A river, a hot tub, an ice bath, peace and quiet, and an endless sky—what more could you want? This is the place to be for anyone needing a break. For more romance, under the stars, bring candles and reading lamps.Guest review byIsabellaSouth Africa - 10.0

Uniondale was the centre point of our journey distance wise - so convenient . Also we had not been there before so it made an interesting stop over. Scenery was stunning and the road excellent. Hotel built in 1832 (I understand). Uniondale is about 14 kms off main road and entry and exit are through two mountain passes which were most attractive.Guest review byChristopherSouth Africa - 8.0

From the main road it looks like just another dusty deserted Karoo town. What a pleasant surprise on turning off into the little town. We had a superb breakfast at @Stuff and met some interesting locals. The town is experiencing a resurgence and is intersting, well maintained and spotlessly clean.Guest review byRobynSouth Africa - 10.0

we have been to Oudtshoorn several times over a number of years. The attractions are mainly the same but still worth a visit - however interesting to see how much the town has grown and evolved. The drive through the Swartberg Mountains is NOT to be missed. The primary reason we took this trip.Guest review bySumayaSouth Africa - 10.0

Route 62 is a great drive and Barrydale is a convenient distance from Cape Town for a stop, The village is small but has interesting places to visit. Arrive in time to look round and leave the next by lunchtime the next day - that's all the time you need but it's worth taking time to stop and look round. We found it a friendly place and were not pestered by beggars.Guest review byAnonymous
