FAQs about hotels in Lombardy
Sophisticated and Serene
The diverse region of Lombardy touches the 3 largest Italian lakes: Lake Garda, Lake Maggiore and Lake Como. Their beautiful shores house many Lombardy luxury hotels and even more luxurious celebrity residences.
The rich and famous also flock to Milan, one of the world’s fashion capitals, where designer boutiques are found alongside La Scala opera house and the iconic San Siro football stadium. To the south, Pavia is best known for its elaborate monastery, while Monza to the north-east hosts the F1 Italian Grand Prix and World Superbike Championship.
Nearby Bergamo is the hub for cheap flights to Milan and it also has a historic old town, while to its east is peaceful Lake Iseo. A smaller lake is located by Varese, and artificial lakes also almost entirely surround the important medieval city of Mantua, seat of the Gonzaga court during the Renaissance.
Brescia to the north-west has monuments dating back to Roman times, while Cremona to the south-west has an impressive cross-shaped cathedral and huge belltower. This beautiful city is on the Po, Italy’s longest river which forms part of the Lombardy border.

Milan is a city we had not heard much about by comparison with other places in Italy. We were so pleasantly surprised. There's lots to explore and see. The first stop was the Cathedral which was truly breath taking. Totally stunning! Afterwards we sauntered through an amazing arcade full of upmarket shops then onto a tour of La Scala. Following this, we visited the Last Supper (a Da Vinci masterpiece) and discovered Sforza Castle bang in the middle of Milan. We visited a students' Art Gallery and enjoyed a walk and a meal along the bustling canal on the last balmy evening. Sadly, we ran out of time to explore further.Guest review byAnnUnited Kingdom - 10.0

It’s a beautiful small town with the old city at the top of a steep hill. It’s easily accessible by bus or the funicular. Walking round the old city is delightful and round each corner there are fascinating old buildings and churches. It’s a five star place to visit. Charming and interesting.Guest review byAnnUnited Kingdom - 10.0

For your accommodation look for a location close to the Duomo; from here you can reach all the tourist attractions on foot. Get your ferry tickets online. Enjoy an Aperol spritz or a glass of wine on a terrace in the afternoon.Guest review byOctavianRomania - 10.0
Lovely little town.
Lovely little town. September was not a bad time but a bit warmer period could be better. I wish I had more days to spend there to visit the other locations with the ferry which was quite easy and very comfortable. Sirmione has also nice beaches, spa, which would be good to visit. Renting a car could be a good option to explore around.Guest review byaylin - 6.0

It really was an R&R stop as we were hiking the MTB and moving onto the Dolomites. It wasn’t really our type of place, the little towns up the coast were pleasant, unfortunately as said they were not our scene .. so can’t really comment for others ..Guest review byVanderput - 10.0

Having spent 311 nights in Limone you must understand that we like it and the surrounding north Lake Garda area. Last year it was selected as the most superb flower decorated town in Italy and at the international competition won the top five 'petals' in it's category of small resorts. The winter population is 1200 people but usually busy with visitors from the end of April till mid October. The only criticism this year is that I detected a cigarette end on some steps! Standards are slipping but the Mayor, Il Sindaco, was quite distressed. If in doubt just go and you will not be disappointed.Guest review byDuncanUnited Kingdom - 6.0

Hotel easy to find although there was some confusion at the airport as to where the free airport shuttle bus left from but perhaps the driver was just having an off day. The room was well equipped and spacious but we had no hot water in the morning. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Staff were very helpful and friendlyGuest review byMargaretUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A must visit city, far better experience than over touristy Verona, for example. Many museums and sites of interest, laid back vibe at night , lots of restaurants with great variety of cuisines, mainly "locals" from suburbs or the old town, chilling in a very pleasant atmosphere, amazing historical buildings and Italian charm. Has all the architecture of "typical" Italy, but without the crowds.Guest review byMichaelUnited Kingdom - 10.0

There's so much to do in the area. we went summer skiing at the glacier (Stelvio), which was ok (lots of long lines for the button lifts because of the hundreds of ski club teams). But the nearby QC Terme Bagni Vecchi was amazing. Would like to have stayed longer for hiking and mountain biking. Very nice little town and beautfil surroundings.Guest review byLu KoUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The ferry was very useful in getting around, and the staff were all very helpful with understanding the routes and times. Bellano was a hidden gem to visit with the waterfalls but the castle was a very steep trek that we didn’t find to be worth it at the end. Most restaurants close on either Tuesday or Wednesday so look up online incase there’s any you particularly want to eat at as we missed out on a couple. This is also the same for tourist attractions such as the villas. Coming from the UK we assumed everywhere touristy would be open 7 days a week but not in Italy. There is lots to do but just make sure you’re aware of the ferry times/train times so you don’t get stuck somewhere you don’t want to.Guest review byAnonymous
