- From US$112.88 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 2,541 reviewsA pleasant transit hotel on the main road. However, it depends a lot on which room you choose. I think it depends a lot on the room you choose. Economic Rooms face the road and are probably not a good choice. On the contrary, we chose the "Superior Twin Room with Terrace" and I definitely recommend it. The terrace had a beautiful view of a dense fig forest and behind it rose the peak of Mount Jebel Musa in Morocco, 20 km away. Everything was complemented by the soothing sounds of a small river flowing around the hotel. We did not hear any traffic noise from the road. They even provided us with a free locked garage for our motorcycle. Absolute satisfaction.Guest review byMartinCzech Republic
- From US$214.47 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 336 reviewsWe loved everything about this hotel. It’s not the first time we have been to the Hurricane, tho it’s been many years since we last visited. With many good changes in the interim, it’s a delightful place to spend time, and the staff are all friendly, accommodating and welcoming. The food is wonderful, very tasty. The gardens are lush, tropical and beautiful. The hotel is welcoming to dogs, too, as we were able to bring our dog, and she slept in the boys’ room on her bed from home.Guest review byNosizwePortugal

Algeciras has some beautiful parts, in the old city the Moorish architecture is really quite something. There are some rougher parts sure, as with any large port town. But I found it safe, the people friendly and the food was great, especially El Taller restaurant. Nearby beach Playa el Rinconcillo was fine. But Algeciras isn't like some beautiful Mediterranean coasted resort destination, it's a fairly gritty Spanish port with some beautiful architecture and passable beaches, cheap and cheerful with easy access to TARIFA where you can get a ferry to Tangiers and visit nearby roman ruins or visit very nearby Gibraltar.Guest review byScottUnited Kingdom - 10.0
I my opinion a definition of a hidden jam!
I my opinion a definition of a hidden jam! It's located only 40 minutes from Jerez de la Frontera and has such a unique look to it, there is trail all around the town that offers unique and breathtaking views of the city. The old town itself is very charming and lively with good restaurants and small shops selling local wine, olive oil and cheese.Guest review byMarinaDenmark - 10.0

Medina Sidonia is a beautiful town and very Spanish.
Medina Sidonia is a beautiful town and very Spanish. There aren’t many foreign tourists and the bars, restaurants and shops are all Spanish - which we found great. People were welcoming and kind to us. The town is very pretty and small but well equipped with all that we needed. We traveled by bus and did not have a car - this meant we generally stayed in the town and relaxed.Guest review byMargaretUnited Kingdom - 10.0

This area of Spain is just beautiful if you can travel the backroads. The landscape changes in amazing ways & it’s never boring. Spring is magnificent with the wildflowers and green. The storks are in their nests tending their young. Hardly anyone is on the back roads. A real treat and food for the soul.Guest review byLauraSpain - 4.0

It is a locals village and no other tourists I could see in late February. The village shop is easy to find, acess with near by parking. Good range of items - all you need. The village itself could be visited without the need for an over night stay. Depends what you are looking for I suppose - too quiet and poor/shoddy for me. I ate in the hotel restaurant 100m down the road in village centre, steak with blue cheese was very tasty.Guest review byCatherineIreland - 8.0

Jimena de la Frontera is a lovely rural town with a view of surrounding countryside and of Gibraltar in the distance. The castle at the top of the town is very interesting and nicely preserved (as ruins.) we enjoyed good food and friendly service at the local restaurants off of the main town square.Guest review byJohnUnited States - 10.0

We loved this apartment, was the best we have stayed in on our journey throughout Portugal and Spain. Everything exceeded expectations and was better than pics depicted. The township was stunning, so many lovely places to eat. We swam, we explored and if we had longer would have used it as a base to explore other places. Easy for a day trip to many places.Guest review byKiwisNew Zealand - 6.0

It is a great place to get ferries to Morocco or to get the shuttle to Tarifa to do the same. I have been before and found it to be a pleasant small town with a good patisserie/bakery that had Moroccan foods (briouwats, mini pastilla, etc). The reason for the 'average' rating of the town stems from the fact that the place I booked was unhelpful and would not allow me to access the property at midnight even though I had paid in advance. As a result I was stranded and had to wander about at night, sleep on a too short stone bench and cat nap until the FRS ticket offices opened. Algeciras is reasonably easy to navigate on foot. There are some cafés by the central market that open early for the traders. There is also a Carrefour express in the area between the train Station and the port with a full selection of goods. I cannot rate 'Conv3nient R00ms - F3rry, Tr@in & Bus $tation' as I was not allowed entry to the property at midnight (late trains, missed connections) having paid for in advance my room. Unfortunately the proprietor was not helpful and I was left wandering the streets all night as not other hostals were open. A cold night with a very short stone bench! (Perhaps this is a rating?) I would avoid this place on my next visit and look for a better rated (more expensive hostal/hotel. I would love to return yet again to Algeciras under better conditions and have an actual 'holiday there, rather than using it merely as a travel interchange. The town looks lovely and no doubt has things to offer away from the mildly salubrious Tran Station/Port area.Guest review byMichaelMorocco
