Lovely and very welcoming. Wonderful breakfast with homemade cakes, also glutenfree. We had a nice room with balcony. The beaitiful communal living room and use of kitchen is a bonus and and it feels like being at home. Very kind and professional host, with an eye for detail that showes everywhere in the house and rooms, including a toothbrush.

The house is situated perfectly in between the beach and the mountain. This gives a variety of walks. We enjoyed the good room and breakfast. All the facilities are in perfect condition and everything is nice and clean. We relaxed in the nice rural garden, and had a chat with the geese, and the hen nextdoor. We visited out of season, still there is a good restaurant nearby. And not far away there is a grocery store, to pick up what is needed for a picnic. We even had the oportunity to cook our own paella in the beautiful kitchen. One old house, is undergoing restauration and will also add to the experience of the rural setting. Perhaps it will be ready next time we come by... With the guidance by the hosts it was easy to find a good trail to the beaches. It is nice to stay for a couple of days, to be able to enjoy the coast both at high and low tide. Finally we had to take a walk up the mountain through the fields and wood. We even discovered a archeological site, a stonehenge! Interesting heritage from bronzeages (but hiddem until the construction of a new highway in 2006!) From the mountain there is an amazing view of the coast all from Foz to Ribadeo.

Hotel Playa de las Catedrales has a beautiful location opposite the Cantabrian Sea, just 10 minutes' walk from Las Catedrales Beach and 1 minute walk from Arealonga Beach.

Booking should allow us to add stars or plus signs next to a 10 rating. By far the best. Don't think twice, book this hotel. Value for money. Just a few of many pros= bathroom - The largest, even the trimmings on the tiles remind you of high end hotels. I had to leave before breakfast, therefore my breakfast was laid out for me an hour earlier. ( coffee and milk in thermoses.) Fresh squeezed orange juice.(the glass covered in cellophane wrap.) I could go on but I think I got my point across. RECOMMEND!!

Casona de Lazúrtegui is a restored colonial house dating from the early 20th century, located 2 minutes’ walk from the pedestrian area of Ribadeo.
