The answer is: everything! The hosts are the loveliest, most forthcoming people. The room was spacious and comfortable. There’s an incredible attention to detail and nothing was missing. The Japanese bath, the breakfast.. wish I could’ve stayed longer and definitely want to come back.

We are here early December, not many people here, and it is fantastic. For nature and hiking lovers this is the best place. We traveled Hokkaido to the far north, but here is the most snow and the food and onsen are beautiful as the mountains. Will rent snow shoes today and go up the mountain. The house, which has the spirit of an alp- mountain hut- is old and built around the Onsen, which is all natural water and giant stones, grown by moss inside and outside of the pools

I wish I could have stayed longer at Yumoto Onsen Hotel. It is classy but also comfortable, a great combination for relaxation. I particularly liked the sitting in the outdoor onsen at night surrounded by rock and snow, soaking in volcanic water listening to the blue Shirogane Waterfall, magical!

The hot spring is good! We enjoyed the hot spring facilities, wearing yukata and the dinner spread is acceptable. It is very near to the beautiful Shirahige waterfalls. Shuttle bus is provided from the Biei Station - just remember to pre book with the hotel.
