Japan hospitality at its best. Food was good. Lounge was good. Food was good. Nothing to complain. Only thing if they have coin laundry will do wonders for me.

The staff were all very nice. They can pick you up and bring you back to the JR train station without additional fees. The room was wide and clean. The onsen were enjoyable and not crowded at night. For your information, there is no soap in your private bathroom. The only way to clean yourself is to go to the onsen where you have a variety of products.

We decided to go off the beaten path to visit Eiheiji and it was so worth it! Although out of our price range, we chose to stay at Hakujukan because dinner and breakfast are included but not just any kind of meals. They offer Washoku (includes a little bit of everything like meat and fish) and shoujin ryorui which can be entirely vegan upon request. It did not disappoint and has been my most standout meal so far in Japan! I haven't eaten dairy in almost a year so when the texture of the Yuba reminded me of a burrata, I was completely blown away! The Ryokan itself is beautiful and elegant. It's also just around the corner from Eiheiji Temple which was one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited! The whole experience was just amazing and would definitely return!

The hotel is right on the river side, we got a room with a view to the forest and the river. The room itself was very spacious, traditional Japanese style with tatami flooring. Felt very authentic and made you feel close to the nature. The staff was wonderful. The reception was very welcoming, lending us umbrellas when it was raining. Another thing that left a big impression was the food and the kitchen staff. We got both dinner and breakfast and were surprised by how kind and engaging the servers were, not to mention the food was incredible. The only regret was not staying here longer.
