It provides a tour desk and a bar on the ground floor. Free WiFi is available in all areas. We were enchanted with the Hotel. The staff was extremely helpful. We got a nice map showing nearby recommended food places. Whatever we needed there was a solution to that. Should I be coming back to Kyoto this would be my first choice.
Kinosaki Onsen, Toyooka
Facing the central shopping street of the Kinosaki Onsen hot spring area, Morizuya offers authentic Japanese-style accommodation, hot spring baths and Japanese dining. Guests can wear colourful yukata robes at the property. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout. ○ Wow. Probably the nicest ryokan I’ve ever stayed at in Japan. ○ Room was incredibly spacious. Lots of space for walking around, different areas to sit. ○ Futon were very plush and comfortable. ○ The onsen in the ryokan were both amazing, but especially the cave one. Its nice that at night, they are private (no reservations, just need to check until they are open) and then separated by gender in the morning. ○ Breakfast and dinner were both delicious. ○ The chance to wear kimono, especially since you get to pick out the kimono, obi, and jacket. They also have hair clips. Also, the chance to have a tea ceremony after check in. Both these experiences were awesome. ○ On top of the rental yukata, geta, tabi socks, towels, and bag for the onsen, we were also given thick winter jackets to go over the yukata to keep us warm. It made walking around at night during winter much more enjoyable. ○ Also the free onsen pass! One of the many perks of staying at a ryokan. You can use it from check in until 1PM the day of checkout. ○ The owner was so incredibly kind, offering to take photos of us. We ended up walking around for more than half an hour to his favorite spots and getting some amazing shots. ○ Free parking is a bit removed, but that isn’t a big deal since the town is so small. They allowed us to park there from the morning of our stay and drop off our bags so we didn’t need to carry them across town. By the time we came for check in, our bags were in the room already.
Koyasan

Bathroom facilities are shared, and the public baths are open 16:00-22:00 and 06:00-09:00 daily. Amazing place to stay, extremely recommended. A really great experience in general - I stayed in one of the suites and could not have asked for a more relaxing and peaceful place to stay, only a short walk from Okunoin Cemetary and an easy walk to the rest of town. Very close to the bus stop from Koyasan Station. Staff were always helpful and the meals were unbelievably delicious and satisfying, even though I needed to ask for a soy-free modification. The best food I ate during my stay!

Free Wi-Fi access is available at the entire property. Staying at Seikoro Ryokan was a truly unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us with warmth and exceptional hospitality. We enjoyed an exquisite 8-course Japanese dinner, featuring the freshest fish and beautifully presented dishes, followed by a delicious traditional Japanese breakfast the next morning. Sleeping in the traditional style, on comfortable floor mattresses, added to the authenticity and charm of the stay. The room was perfectly air-conditioned and overlooked a serene and beautifully maintained zen garden, offering a sense of peace and calm. We especially appreciated the thoughtful touches—yukata robes provided for dinner and the onsen, as well as comfortable sleepwear. Thank you once again for such a wonderful and memorable stay. We hope to return one day!

Super welcome from the staff, including a detailed introduction to the ryokan and how to conduct yourself (delivered in a professional and welcoming manner). Amazing ryokan and relaxing onsen. Highly recommend. Serene surroundings of the beautiful garden and pond. Truly idyllic. Thoughtfully tailored vegan kaiseki for my partner. Taste didn’t 100% hit the mark (see below sole negative comment), but we couldn’t fault the effort that had gone into the meal. Great breakfast. Unique experience (breakfast in a yukata).
Best location! Staff spoke little english but with translate it all worked out - very friendly There's a family markt next door The room was Very Spacious There were 2 showers and even 1 hot bath (onsen style) Very affordable way to stay in a Ryokan and sleep on a futon Cute that you get pyjama's
Simply stunning. Lovely to stay in a ryokan, a traditional Japanese inn. Our lady was exceptional, giving first class treatment in talking us through many dishes she served, constantly topping our water, cleaning our teapot. V filling so be warned and you get to try things you wouldn’t get these days or in chain hotels. The onsen was a relief from the long journey. The futons v comfy. It was so unique to switch off, enjoy tranquility.
The hosts were extremely gracious, and I love that it’s family-owned, in the building they live in! There is lovely tatami in the rooms and pretty comfy futons, with beautiful, minimalist decoration. Yukata and tea were provided for a full, relaxing ryokan stay.
It's a ryokan in a high building where you get yukatas, bento breakfast (beef is best), futons on the floor and a wonderful indoor onsen. We lived there for 3 nights and the best time to vizit the onsen was at 4 pm or about midnight. We walked to Gyon and Kiyomizu-dera, it took about 30-40 min.
The Ryokan is literally 1min walk from the station, in a peatonal street full of shops. The personal was very kind and they were always trying to help. They took care of our luggage before the check in and after the check out. The room was amazing with tatami floor and they left a yukata for each gest. The Onsen was amazing and very relaxing. The breakfast was incredible, everything in the menu was amazing and very tasty. 100% recommended
If you want to spend a few nights in a real ryokan (not the edulcorated-for-tourist replicas), this might be the real deal. Wooden and paper panels, tatami, futons, internal garden, traditional shower, in-room tea-set, yukatas, and many other details. My kids (14 and 11 y.o) said this was the best hotel in our 3-weeks-trip throughout Japan. The staff is very kind and eager to make your stay great.
traditional tatami room with futon, welcome tea with sweets, Japanese Yukata, small Japanese courtyard, free onsen, happy-hour tea and snacks, and friendly staffs
Very welcoming monks Very close to the bus station and at a walking distance from the temples (careful, you must be back to the ryokan by 5pm) Dinner and breakfast (vegetarian) are delicious and served directly in the room The room was cosy and traditional, with comfortable futons, and yukatas are available There is a large hot tub, similar to an onsen to be shared with the other guests, this is where you shower too (you must be comfortable with nudity) We attended the morning ceremony, a unique moment
Gorgeous ryokan with good onsens. It was my first traditional Japanese hotel and onsen, so I was very impressed by hospitality, kaiseki dinner, the view, the room with tatami, yukata and hot springs. Totally recommend it!
