Private onsen is perfect for a family with kids and elderly. We stayed here for 2 nights with great variety of food.

We absolutely loved everything about this peaceful ryokan—the beautiful grounds, the delicious Kaiseki meals, the relaxing onsens (both private and public), the clean and comfortable room, and the incredibly kind staff. A standout feature was the private dining room assigned to each guest room, which added an extra touch of exclusivity and charm.

You will find Japanese Yukata robes, slippers and a hairdryer in all rooms. Rooms come with a private toilet. Bathing facilities are shared. Minshuku Asogen, a property with a garden, is situated in Aso, 29 km from Egao Kenko Stadium Kumamoto, 38 km from Kumamoto Castle, as well as 38 km from Suizenji Park. The property is located 39 km from Hosokawa Residence Gyobutei, 8.8 km from Mount Aso and 29 km from KK Wings. The ryokan features rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. Outstanding food both for breakfast and dinner - some of the best we had while in Japan with many local specialties. The private onsen were comfortable and very nice. Location is great if you're in a car and it's easy to explore the nearby Aso-Kuju National Park from there.

Friendly and helpful staff. Super friendly for pet! Comfy bed and relaxing onsen. Food was really delicious!

Kurokawa Onsen Yama no Yado Shinmeikan features 5 hot-spring baths, including a 30-metre long cave bath. Located in the centre of Kurokawa hot-spring area, it offers Japanese accommodations and free WiFi at the lobby. Free shuttle is available to/from Ogunimachi Yu Station and bus stop Kurokawa. The osen experience is unique. We did the cave and the open-air osen. The old building, and the open-fire grill for dinner, the beef, etc... It is right next to the river and it is in the center of the town. Very conveniently located. A lot of tourists take selfies in front of the buildings so it is a destination on its own.

The ryokan serves Japanese seasonal dishes at its dining room, which features an open kitchen. Teahouse Warabe offers self-service coffee. A variety of Japanese shochu liquor, wines and other drinks can be enjoyed at bar Kura. We stayed in Shion room which was really special with a stove in the living room, a foot bath room and indoor bath. The outdoor public bath was really good too, and not crowded at all in the morning. The service provided by all the staff was very welcoming, making us feel relax and comfortable. Really enjoy the stay.

Guests with a dinner-inclusive rate are served a Japanese kaiseki multi-course meal. The main menu consists of a grilled beef on a lave plate. The dinner was delicious, really enjoyed.

Situated in the centre of the Kurokawa Onsen Area and boasting a total of 8 indoor/outdoor hot spring baths, Nanjoen offers traditional Japanese-style accommodation with tatami (woven-straw) flooring and futon bedding. Gorgeous traditional ryokan, with beautifully appointed rooms—we had one of the en-suite onsen baths, and I highly recommend it! The dinners and breakfasts were sumptuous and almost too much food, all very delicious. The staff is friendly, impeccable, and very helpful. The area itself is also lovely, with plenty of shops and nearby onsens to explore.

Free Wi-Fi is available at the public area. Great location, very nice setting and loved the different Onsen. The food was amazing and the staff very thoughtful and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it.
